Back to the domestic divisions now, with a side that has been heavily impacted by recent promotions. There are still a few big names making their way into TOTW 6, with the likes of James, Leao, and Felix standing out.
Yehvann Diouf - GK - 78 > 82 OVR
Five saves and penalty save / Nice 3 - Lyon 2 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Although Diouf conceded twice, it was ultimately his heroics that secured all three points for Nice. He produced several key saves, including a penalty stop just after halftime. Suzuki was the best goalkeeper option this week, but with his inclusion in the Ratings Reload promotion, we had to look elsewhere, a theme that runs throughout this prediction.
Reece James - RB - 81 > 84 OVR
One goal, one assist and clean sheet / Forest 0 - Chelsea 3 / 8.8 Sofascore Rating
It was the final blow for Ange at Forest, with a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea marking the end of his tenure — making him the shortest-serving Premier League manager in history at just 39 days. James was superb throughout, contributing a goal and an assist alongside a clean sheet.
Harry Maguire - CB - 80 > 83 OVR
One goal / Liverpool 1 - Manchester United 2 / 8 Sky Rating
It’s now four consecutive defeats for Liverpool, which is unheard of in recent times for them. Manchester United are going somewhat under the radar at the moment, and sitting just six points off the top, I can see them competing for a top-four position this season. Maguire scored the winner, and with his MOTM award alongside the magnitude of this match, it should be enough to see him included.
Nordi Mukiele - RB - 79 > 84 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Sunderland 2 - Wolves 0 / 9 Sky Rating
Many had ruled out Sunderland’s chances of survival before the season began, but with fourteen points from their opening eight matches, they currently sit as high as seventh. Their latest result was a 2-0 home win over struggling Wolves, with Mukiele scoring the opener and earning Man of the Match with an impressive 9/10 performance.
Leroy Sane - RM - 82 > 84 OVR
Two goals / Basaksehir 1 - Galatasaray 2 / 8.7 Sofascore Rating
Despite being only 29 years old, Sane made the move to Galatasaray this summer, which strongly suggests it may be the last time we see him at the highest level. The German remains a big name among the community, and for that reason, I believe his brace will carry significant weight for the upcoming TOTW.
Kenza Dali - CDM - 83 > 85 OVR
One goal, one assist / San Diego Wave 6 - Chicago 1 / 9.1 Sofascore Rating
I expect the run of NWSL players to continue, and although there was an easy selection, as with many, the current promotion ruled that one out. Instead, we look towards San Diego’s 6-1 home win. Dudinha scored a brace, but with her not in the game, it left the door open for Dali, who scored once and assisted another from CDM.
Angelo Stiller - CDM - 83 > 85 OVR
One goal, one assist / Wolfsburg 0 - Stuttgart 3 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
With Cornerstones having been a few weeks ago now, I can see Stiller being eligible for an IF, especially as it’s a relatively cheap card. The German is often underrated in the Bundesliga but remains a consistent performer for Stuttgart. Offensive contributions are not usually his responsibility, but with a goal and an assist this weekend, it’s no surprise he claimed MOTM with a 1.5 rating.
Rafael Leao - LW - 84 > 86 OVR
Two goals / AC Milan 2 - Fiorentina 1 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
With a couple of options from Serie A ruled out due to their inclusion in the Ratings Reload promotion, the division was difficult to select from. Leão performed on Sunday evening, however, making at least one choice an easy one. His brace led AC Milan to a 2-1 home win over Fiorentina.
Alexandra Popp - RW - 85 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Leverkusen 1 - Wolfsburg 5 / 8 Sofascore Rating
While Munich could easily receive an IF this week, with several of their options being unavailable for one reason or another, I have instead opted for a Wolfsburg inclusion. Popp scored twice from what was seemingly the wing as they went on to comfortably beat Leverkusen 5-1 away from home.
Danny Welbeck - ST - 78 > 82 OVR
Two goals / Brighton 2 - Newcastle 1 / 9 Sky Rating
Newcastle have failed to perform consistently this season and are arguably the most underperforming side in the division so far. Brighton were the latest team to beat them, with a Danny Welbeck double securing a 2-1 win.
Joao Felix - ST - 79 > 86 OVR
Hat trick / Al-Nassr 5 - Al-Fatheh 1 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Who would have expected the first SIF of the year to go to João Félix? The Portuguese forward struggled to break into the Chelsea lineup, which ultimately prompted his move to Saudi Arabia. A hat-trick this weekend should earn him another IF, with a four-week gap being sufficient in my view.
Substitutes
Danilho Doekhi - CB - 78 > 82 OVR
Two goals / Union Berlin 3 - Gladbach 1 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
One of the early additions to this week’s side came from Union Berlin’s 3-1 home win over Gladbach. Doekhi has always been an attacking threat, scoring numerous times despite playing at CB throughout his career. He added another two to his tally this weekend, which ultimately spearheaded Union Berlin to all three points.
Christoph Baumgartner - CM - 77 > 81 OVR
Two goals / Leipzig 2 - HSV 1 / 2 Kicker Rating
While early signs suggest Munich may dominate the division this season, Leipzig remain one of the other highly competitive sides. A chaotic five-minute spell saw three goals this weekend, two of which went to the hosts and were both scored by Baumgartner. The Austrian midfielder went on to earn Man of the Match honors with a strong Kicker rating.
Darwin Nunez - LW - 79 > 82 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Al-Ettifaq 0 - Al-Hilal 5 / 9.1 Sofascore Rating
It never really clicked for Nunez at Liverpool, and while the quality was evident, the end product let him down time and again. The move to Saudi Arabia was always expected to suit him, and with attacking returns in four of his last five league games, his form appears to be back. The Uruguayan scored twice and provided an assist on Saturday as Al-Hilal cruised to a 5-0 away victory.
Adrien Thomasson - CM - 77 > 81 OVR
Two assists / Lens 2 - Paris 1 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Lens have started the season well and sit just two points behind league leaders Marseille after the opening eight matches. Their latest three points came at home against Paris, with central midfielder Thomasson providing both assists. Only a few players from Ligue 1 received a rating of eight or higher this week, making him stand out among the selections.
Andrej Kramaric - CM - 81 > 84 OVR
One goal, one assist / St Pauli 0 - Hoffenheim 3 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
Kramaric continues to occupy a deeper role for Hoffenheim, with the Croatian now operating in more of a central midfield position. His performance earned him the MOTM award and a strong Kicker rating after scoring once and assisting another during their 3-0 away win.
Joaquin Panichelli - ST - 74 > 80 OVR
Two goals / PSG 3 - Strasbourg 3 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Although Strasbourg couldn’t hold onto the three points, a draw away at PSG is still an impressive result. I am happy to continue selecting silvers on the bench, especially from the better divisions, as EA continue to do so. For that reason, despite so many hat-tricks occurring, I can see Panichelli making the final side due to his brace in the aforementioned 3-3 draw.
Samuel Omorodion Aghehowa - ST - 79 > 82 OVR
Hat trick / Celoricense 0 - Porto 4 / MOTM
While Porto were always likely to win this match convincingly, with EA now including cup competitions in TOTW, and Samu scoring three times, it is almost inevitable that the Spaniard will be included in TOTW. The sample size is still very small here so there is a little guesswork around club quality and rounds etc.
Reserves
Odin Luraas Bjortuft - CB - 70 > 80 OVR
Two goals / Sarpsborg 2 - Bodo 5 / 9 Sofascore Rating
Harry Anderson - LM - 60 > 80 OVR
Hat trick / Colchester 3 - Harrogate 1 / 9 Sofascore Rating
Younes Ebnoutalib - ST - 62 > 80 OVR
Hat trick / Elversberg 6 - Furth 0 / 9.4 Sofascore Rating
Ayase Ueda - ST - 74 > 80 OVR
Hat trick / Heracles 0 - Feyenoord 7 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Paddy Madden - ST - 62 > 80 OVR
Three goals, one assist / Accrington 4 - Swindon 0 / 10 Sofascore Rating
