FC 24 90 Centurions Martin Odegaard Player Review - COP or FLOP?

It’s a new dawn, a new day, a new promo for us… And I’m feeling good! What a good bunch of content we have been given today! Evolutions are finally picking up and looking insane! We also have the start of a brand new Promo in the Centurions.

Amidst the Centurions Promo, we have a fairly decent team one. A couple of OP players in there but some players that are almost guaranteed to be the ones in your packs. Rashford and Mendy are the standout players for me but of course, let’s not forget that we also have a bunch of Centurion Icons as well! 

Of course, we are here to discuss the SBC section and we have ourselves another Arsenal player in the Promo SBC in none other than Martin Odegaard. Arsenal fans are eating good right now as there seems to have been an absence from them in the past few years but just over a month into this year's game cycle we already have a bunch of Special cards from the Gunners.

I was absolutely expecting a big price tag on this card being it’s a 90-rated special item from the Premier League but how wrong I was. Martin comes in just over 300k in value which in the scheme of things, is not bad at all. Especially considering hope overpriced some of the SBCs have been as of late.

Odegaard slots bang in the middle of a Promo-riddled squad with the likes of Flashback KDB and POTM Maddison alongside him in the midfield. For chemstyle, the clear choice for me was to go with a Hunter Chemstyle as he really needed that boost in pace just to keep up in the attack. However, if you were to opt to play Odegaard more in the CM role (I would not recommend it) then perhaps an Engine Chemstyle will be more worthwhile to boost up those physical stats.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Passing was by far the standout stat for this card. Of course, this is massively helped with the Incisive Pass Playstyle+
+ Dribbling was also as good as you would expect. He does a really good job of keeping the ball close to his feet when maneuvering around players
/ Shooting for me was a little inconsistent. I expected a little bit more from someone with high finishing and shot power but occasionally he missed goals that he just shouldn’t have
/ Positioning was also a little bit out there for me, he often pressed a little too high up for my liking and seemed to almost play like a second striker at times, leaving a gap in the midfield that I didn’t anticipate.
- Strength was noticeably an issue for me as very often he was quite easily pressured off of the ball.

Odegaard - Cop or Flop?

This one is a little bit tricky for me, it’s not that I didn’t enjoy using this card, it’s just that he didn’t feel like a standout player for me in-game. Don’t get me wrong he can do a job and with the right setup, utilizing his Playstyle, you can create some outstanding plays. But in my mind, I was really hoping that this Odegaard card would be in to push Flashback KDB out of my team, but that likely is not the case.

Pricewise I think this isn’t awful value, if you’re an Arsenal fan then absolutely pick this card up because by no means is cost an issue. So of course get this for your Arsenal collection. If you’re a Flashback KDB Owner, unless someone else in your squad is getting the boot then don’t be expecting Martin to be the replacement like I thought.

I feel like I have been more negative to this card than it deserves… This by no means is a bad card, my issue is he just didn’t feel like a 90-rated card in game. So for me, unless you are an Arsenal fan, I would say hold off from completing it. With fodder being a little bit more difficult to get ahold of currently, you may be better off saving some coins for more players down the road.

Verdict = FLOP (Unless an Arsenal Fan)
