To say TOTW 12 looks underwhelming would be an understatement. EA may look to spice things up but as for the prediction we have Trippier’s SIF, a hat trick for Hegerberg and Rabiot destroying recent evolutions.
Yann Sommer - GK - 84 > 86 OVR
Four saves and clean sheet / Napoli 0 - Inter 3 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
Inter Milan sustained top spot in Serie A with an impressive 3-0 away win over Napoli. Barella excelled but with an IF in TOTW 10 I can’t see another just two weeks later. Instead, I have opted for Sommer who also received a strong Gazzetta rating for his role in the clean sheet.
Emma Koivisto - RB - 80 > 84 OVR
Goal, assist and clean sheet / Finland (W) 6 - Romania (W) 0
It’s unclear how many IF’s the Women's Uefa League will result in but with a lack of options from male domestic fixtures they seriously stand out. Koivisto was phenomenal down the left flank providing two attacking returns while sustaining her clean sheet.
Przemyslaw Frankowski - LWB - 79 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Lens 3 - Lyon 2 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Lens opted to rest Frankowski this week originally but the Polish defender was brought on for the second half with the scores level at 1-1. Frankoswki went on to score twice, securing all three points for the home side.
Kieran Trippier - RB - 85 > 87 OVR
Assist and clean sheet / Newcastle 1 - Man United 0 / 8 Sky Rating
Newcastle continued their pursuit for the top 4 with a notable 1-0 win over Manchester United. Once again Trippier played a huge role in their success, providing the assist for the solitary goal of the match.
Dejan Kulusevski - CAM - 81 > 85 OVR
One goal, one assist / Man City 3 - Tottenham 3 / 7 Sky Rating
With Man City against Tottenham being one of the bigger fixtures this weekend I can see it resulting in an IF, especially with it being a six-goal thriller. Kulusevski turned up once again, providing a late goal to go alongside an early assist to steal a point away from the hosts.
Gabriel Veiga - CAM - 78 > 86 OVR
Two goals, two assists / Abha 0 - Al-Ahli 6 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Veiga was one of the more controversial transfers to Saudi Arabia over the summer due to his status as a highly-tipped youngster. Nevertheless, off to Al-Ahli, he went. The Spaniard has consistently performed for the club and with two goals and two assists this weekend looks set for his first special item of the game.
Enzo Fernandez - CM - 83 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Chelsea 3 - Brighton 2 / 7 Sky Rating
A captivating encounter unfolded between both Chelsea and Brighton on Sunday with five goals and a red card to indulge over. Fernandez scored two of Chelsea’s goals and despite only receiving a 7/10 I can see it being enough with the Argentine being officially MOTM.
Adrian Rabiot - CM - 84 > 86 OVR
Goal and assist / Monza 1 - Juventus 2 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
The trend of the evolution curse occurs again with Rabiot being a popular choice for the recently released evolution, he then goes on to perform at the weekend. The Frenchman was involved in both Juventus goals and received a strong match rating for doing so.
Cristhian Stuani - ST - 77 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Girona 2 - Valencia 1 / 8.6 Sofascore Rating
With four draws and a couple of low-scoring wins in La Liga this week options were few and far between. Stuani’s brace stands out with his double securing a 2-1 win over Valencia. The Uruguayan is still going strong at 37 years of age.
Aleksandar Mitrovic - ST - 79 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Al-Hilal 3 - Al-Nassr 0 / 9.6 Sofascore Rating
EA highlighted the importance of this fixture with a showdown SBC so I would be surprised if Mitrovic goes on to be snubbed. The Serbian scored twice as Al-Hilal made it look easy. With 13 wins and 2 draws from their opening 15, it looks as though there is o catching them.
Ada Hegerberg - ST - 89 > 90 OVR
Hat trick / Noway (W) 4 - Portugal (W) 0 / MOTM
Hegerberg was an early talking point in EAFC for all the wrong reasons so hopefully this IF won’t follow the same path. This weekend, a hat trick for Norway secured their first Uefa Nations campaign win.
Substitutes
Patrick Osterhage - CDM - 72 > 83 OVR
One goal / Bochum 3 - Wolfsburg 1 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
Once again the Bundesliga failed to deliver in terms of IF options. I fully expect one to be forced in by EA, I have looked towards the player of the week. That award went the way of Osterhage after he scored one of their three in a dominant display from CDM.
Florian Niederlecht - CAM - 72 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Hertha 5 - Elversberg 1 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
The first of two from Germany’s second division comes with Niederlecht. The German scored three times as Hertha cruised their way to a 5-1 home win. While unsure if we will see two selected from the division it is difficult to ignore either option.
Romain Del Castillo - RW - 73 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Brest 3 - Clermont 0 / 8 L’equipe Rating
EA have demonstrated their willingness to include non-gold options and turn them into the new minimum at 83 and with that being the case I have no issue with selecting Castillo. The Brest winger was pivotal for them this weekend, scoring twice to secure a 3-0 win.
Sharon Beck - CAM - 79 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Armenia (W) 0 - Israel (W) 4 / MOTM
Israel remains unbeaten during their Uefa Nations campaign with a 4-0 away win over Armenia. Koln’s Beck emerged as the catalyst for Israels' success scoring on three occasions to pile more misery to Armenia.
Sabin Merino - ST - 68 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Racing de Ferrol 5 - Albacete 4 / 8.8 Sofascore Rating
The first of a trio of hat tricks from strikers making the bench this week comes from a nine-goal thriller between Racing and Albacete. The hosts came out on top with substitute, Merino, registering three of their five.
Vincent Vermeij - ST - 68 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Nurnberg 0 - Fortuna 5 / 1 Kicker Rating
Onto a straightforward selection now with Vermeij. The Dutchman scored three of Fortuna’s five goals as they cruised to a 5-0 away win. The forward was awarded Player of the Week from Kicker to solidify his place this week.
Ferdy Druijf - ST - 69 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Volendam 0 - Zwolle 5 / 8.5 VI Rating
With the score sitting deadlock at 0-0 Zwolle strategically turned to the bench with Druijf. It was a decision which paid off perfectly. The Dutchman found the back of the net three times as Zwolle proceeded to win 5-0 resulting in an 8.5 from VI.
