Who are the new Icons in FC 25? Our ‘Class of 25’ Icons for FC 25 have been confirmed and we’ll be seeing 8 new faces in our packs next year. Before we start, yes we’re getting old. These are some of the guys we’ve been using in Ultimate Team in years gone by… But who are the new Icons we’ll be seeing in our picks and packs next year?
Nadine Angerer - Germany
Nadine Angerer won it all at club level with Turbine Potsdam, racking up A Champions League, 2 Bundesliga trophies and 3 German Cups. She also has 5 European Championships to her name, with her being Germany’s starting keeper in tournaments from 2007 onwards (Euro 2009/13 wins). 2013 also saw her named as FIFA World Player of The Year, the first goalkeeper male or female to win the award. She’s been given a 92 rated card, the joint highest rated keeper in Ultimate Team.
Gianluigi Buffon - Italy
It was all but confirmed after featuring on the cover of FC 25 but it’s now official, Gigi Buffon will be an Icon in FC 25. Arguably the greatest goalkeeper of all time is finally part of the Icon lineup just one year after retirement and he’ll be going straight into our team. 10 Serie A titles and a World Cup for Gigi is more than deserving of Icon status in FC 25!
Aya Miyama - Japan
If you thought Sawa was hard enough to play against, we’ve got one of her teammates joining the lineup. Aya Miyama was part of the famous Japan team who shook the world and took home the Women's World Cup in 2011. Top, top dribbling and some really nice attacking stats make her an incredible option and one we look forward to using!
Julie Foudy - USA
Julie Foudy was part of the USWNT that sparked the professional women's game in the country after their success at the inaugural 1991 Women’s World Cup. In 2007 she was inducted into the USA National Soccer Hall of Fame alongside our favourite FC 25 Icon, Mia Hamm. If she’s even close to as good as Hamm in 25, we’re in for a treat.
Lotta Schelin - Sweden
Schelin is the all time female goalscorer for Sweden but it’s not just at national level where she shone. The Swede is an Olympique Lyonnais legend as she was part of the initial startup of the Lyon Super Teams we know today. In 8 seasons in France she took home 8 league titles and contributed to 3 UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies. 91 Pace, 89 Dribbling and Finesse Shot+, we’re very excited.
Marinette Pichon - France
Pichon left her native France to join the first-ever fully professional female league in the United States in 2002 and took home the MVP whilst playing out there. She took this momentum to the international stage and helped France reach their first World Cup ever, where it was her who scored their first ever goal at the tournament. 5 ft 4 with Acrobatic+ could prove to be an interesting combo…
Lillian Thuram - France
The Thuram name is already written into Ultimate Team history with Khepren and Marcus providing some overpowered cards over the past few years. Now it’s their fathers turn to join the party. Lillian Thuram has been on the Wanted Icons list for many years now and we’re glad he’s finally been given the go-ahead. France have always struggled in the Right Back position in Ultimate Team so hopefully this is now locked off for many years to come!
Gareth Bale - Wales
FC 25. Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order. It feels like only yesterday (it was FIFA 23…) that Gareth Bale hung up his boots and he’s really making us feel old. The 5 times Champions League winner really put himself at the very top of world football in Madrid, and even if he didn’t learn the language I’m sure the Madridistas don’t mind after the trophies he brought to the club. I do not care how expensive this card is, I will be doing everything I possibly can to own this card in FC 25, he looks INCREDIBLE! Let’s hope he’s also got an Acrobatic PlayStyle to pull off some overhead kicks…
