Just as you think TOTW can’t get any more underwhelming, TOTW 8 appears. With no player higher than 86 rated, you may want to save your packs until next week! There are some usable players, though, with Coman, Gyökeres, and a featured Aina standing out.
Marcin Bulka - GK - 79 > 82 OVR
Six saves and clean sheet / Brest 0 - Nice 1 / 7 L’equipe Rating
There were only a handful of keepers worth mentioning, but it could be any of Bulka, Nubel, or Ramsdale. I have opted for Bulka simply to balance the divisions. The Polish stopper made six saves in total to keep his clean sheet away at Brest as Nice enter the European positions.
Ola Aina - RB - 75 > 84 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Nottingham Forest 3 - West Ham 0 / 9 Sky Rating
Forest keep going from strength to strength this season, with their latest result—a 3-0 victory over West Ham, taking them into third place after the opening ten games. Aina capped off the performance with the third goal, a strike from distance. There were numerous PL fullback options this week, and someone could easily miss out
Ona Batlle - LB - 85 > 86 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Barcelona (W) 4 - Eibar (W) 0 / 9.5 Sofascore Rating
Barcelona Women are among the highest number of promotional items in the game, with six already. That number could easily increase again on Wednesday, with Batlle scoring one of their four goals during another convincing win.
Nicolas Tagliafico - LB - 78 > 81 OVR
8 ball recoveries / Lille 1 - Lyon 1 / 8 L’equipe Rating
We saw the 8’s forced in last week, even with those that were not gold cards, so I can see that continuing here with Tagliafico. Other than the 8 match rating, his performance doesn’t really stand out, but regardless, I will take the punt.
Kingsley Coman - LM - 84 > 86 OVR
One goal, one assist / Munich 3 - Union Berlin 0 / 2 Kicker Rating
Harry Kane was once again named MOTM but with recent promotional cards for him the IF is highly unlikely. Instead, we opt for Coman, who also stood out during Munich’s 3-0 win. A nice shooting upgrade on this card would result in a very usable IF.
Davide Frattesi - CM - 81 > 84 OVR
Two goals / Empoli 0 - Inter Milan 3 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
Most performances from Italy came during the midweek set of fixtures, matches which are hit and miss with EA’s inclusions. I am still willing to select a couple, though, one of which is Frattesi. The Italian scored two of Inter’s three as they secured three points away from home.
Riqui Puig - CM - 78 > 84 OVR
Two goals / Colorado 1 - LA Galaxy 4 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
EA opted against the SIF last week, but it's got to happen eventually, and Puig is on fire right now. Another two goals helped LA Galaxy continue their domination of Colorado, winning 4-1 on the day and 9-1 on aggregate. There is now a seven-week gap between the IFs, that has got to be enough, right?
Dani Olmo - CAM - 84 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Barcelona 3 - Espanyol 1 / 8.4 Sofascore Rating
Barcelona’s remarkable start to the season continued with a 3-1 win over Espanyol. It was Olmo’s turn to shine with the Spaniard managing a double from CAM. With eleven wins from their opening twelve matches now the gap continues to grow at the summit of the table.
Rachael Kundananji - LM - 83 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Houston 2 - Bay FC 3 / 9.6 Sofascore Rating
The female additions were extremely difficult this week, but with at least three set to be included, I had to make some decisions. Kundananji was one of those, and with the NWSL being extremely hyped up, it’s inevitable one will come from there. Her two goals helped Bay FC to a 3-2 away win and will make her a strong IF.
Dominic Solanke - ST - 81 > 84 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Tottenham 4 - Aston Villa 1 / 9 Sky Rating
With Aston Villa taking the lead and entering the break one goal up, Tottenham needed to find something special in the second half to turn things around. That is exactly what they managed, scoring four times to record a comfortable 4-1 win. Solanke was involved in three of those four, making him an easy addition.
Viktor Gyokeres - ST - 84 > 86 OVR
Four goals / Sporting 5 - Estrela 1 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Somehow, Gyökeres failed to feature in the Trailblazers' promotion despite being one of the most in-form players out there. The Swede continued his superb start to the season with four goals during Sporting’s 5-1 home win, taking his tally to 16 from his first 10 league appearances.
Substitutes
Milos Kerkez -LB - 77 > 81 OVR
Two assists / Bournemouth 2 - Man City 1 / 8.2 Sofascoe Rating
Manchester City’s unbeaten streak of 32 Premier League matches came crashing to an end, with Bournemouth producing their first three points in history against Man City. Several players stood out, but the IF likely goes to Kerkez, who provided the assist on both Bournemouth's goals.
Enrico Delprato - CB - 75 > 81 OVR
Goal / Juventus 2 - Parma 2 / 8 Gazzetta Rating
The highest-rated player from Gazzetta over the two game weeks was actually Delprato, a CB who scored once during a 2-2 away draw. It was a big result for Parma, though, and I just can’t ignore an 8 from a CB
Miguel Gutierrez Ortega - LM - 80 > 83 OVR
One goal, one assist / Girona 4 - Leganes 3 / 8.4 Sofascore Rating
Last year, this would have been a certainty for inclusion, but now that EA are opting for LM rather than LWB, it becomes more difficult. Gutierrez is still in with a shout, though, after his goal and assist saw Girona come out on top in a seven-goal thriller.
Maximillian Beier - RM - 78 > 82 OVR
One goal, one assist / Dortmund 2 - Leipzig 1 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
Leipzig were keeping pace with Munich at the top of the table prior to their recent loss to Dortmund. Beier was pivotal during this match, managing both a goal and an assist. His performance saw Kicker award him MOTM with a strong 1.5-match rating.
Mahmoud Dahoud - CM - 76 > 81 OVR
One goal, one assist / Frankfurt 7 - Bochum 2 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
With Marmoush being ineligible, it made the decision significantly more difficult. Frankfurt simply can’t be ignored after recording a 7-2 win over Bochum, but the inclusion is far from obvious. I have gone for the only other player selected in Kicker’s TOTW: Dahoud, who scored once and assisted another.
Lea Khelifi - RM - 76 > 81 OVR
Two goals / Montpellier (W) 7 - Guingamp (W) 0 / 8.7 Sofascore Rating
With an 8-0 win occurring, the D1 inclusion must be from Montpellier. Who that will be, however, is up for debate. I have opted for Khelifi, who scored twice from RM, but there are numerous other candidates from the same match.
Tim Kleindienst - ST - 77 > 81 OVR
Three assists / Gladbach 4 - Bremen 1 / 1 Kicker Rating
It’s rare to see strikers included on assists alone, but with three of them, it was a performance to remember for Kleindienst. Kicker awarded him a perfect 1 match rating, with his three assists playing a huge role during Gladbach’s 4-1 home win.
Reserves
Loreintz Rosier - CB - 70 > 80 OVR
Two goals and clean sheet / Fortuna 3 - Heerenveen 0 / 7.5 VI Rating
72 73 71 70 77 83
Taylor Hinds - LM - 72 > 80 OVR
Two goals / Aston Villa (W) 1 - Liverpool (W) 2 / 8.8 Sofascore Rating
Alessane Ndao - RM - 68 > 80 OVR
Hat trick / Konyaspor 3 - Basaksehir 2 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Gaeten Perrin - RM - 72 > 80 OVR
Two goals / Auxerre 4 - Rennes 0 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Vakoun Issouf Bayo - ST - 69 > 80 OVR
Four goals / Sheffield Wednesday 2 - Watford 6 / 10 Sofascore Rating
