FC 25 94 Flashback Kenny Lala Player Review - Cop or Flop

We are just one day away from the official start to the Team of the Season promo. But today, that is not what we are here to discuss. The new season has of course, just dropped, but for the first time, there is a “Premium Season” that comes with premium rewards alongside the standard FC Season Rewards. This is a paid feature, and whilst some people may turn their nose up to it, this is something a lot of game franchises have been doing for some time so it was inevitable that FC would join in on it. 

The player we are here to talk about today however, is the Level 1 reward from the Premium Pass, and it is a Flashback Kenny Lala. Before discussing the player itself, let’s just sink in the fact that we have this item available from the get-go of this Pass. Major props to EA for that one.

Now I certainly have not forgotten that incredibly overpowered Lala item from FIFA 19 as I’m sure many others haven’t either. So I was pretty excited to see this item, especially when it feels like there aren’t many definitive options for the RB position and going off of face value, this card looks like it could be extremely meta and most likely in a lot of people’s teams with it only being the level 1 reward.

As this is Kenny’s first special item in FC25, this item has had a huge +18 boost from his base card along with 3 playstyle pluses in Incisive Pass, Quick Step and Intecept. He has also been given the Jockey, Block and Slide tackle playstyles as well. He comes with nothing but Role++’s in the Fullback, Flashback, Wingback and Attacking Wingback roles. He has had just a +1 to his Weak Foot and Skill moves, which I feel some players may scoff at but honestly I think overall this is a really nice item that’s had some huge boosts across the board for his stats.

The chemstyle of choice for me here has to be the Anchor chemstyle. It completes his Pace, Defending and Physicals nicely, making him a fantastic backline player.

To unlock this item of course, does in fact require a cost; however, it isn’t a cost for the player itself, but the premium pass. In order to gain the premium pass, the cost is coming in at 500k coins or 1k FC Points. Honestly, I don’t hate it. For hardcore players, this will be a must-complete. I’d never advocate for spending real currency on a game, but as we have seen, players are spending very similar amounts of Evolutions, so why not spend the same on a Season Pass that is going to give you some big-time rewards? 

How did he perform in-game?

+ Pace was superb on this card, it really does bring back those memories of the FIFA 19 version because he is so quick on the ball yet strong enough to force his way around the opposition

+ Which segways into his strength. He’s absolutely solid despite this being his lowest “Physical” stat.

+ Passing, specifically the through balls, was near enough perfect. This was all thanks to the Incisive Pass+, but he was able to ping the ball upfield with ease and often put the attackers through on goal.

+ Defensively, he’s solid, his interceptions saved the team more times than I could count. Tackles looked easy as he was able to apply his strength to force players off the ball.

+ Dribbling was also nice. He made quick runs along the edge of the pitch and was incredibly agile on the ball whilst controlling it well.

+ Positionally he was a workhorse too. He covered a lot of distance on the pitch each game. Pressing up to assist with the attack whilst also tracking back with speed to block off any advances made from the opposition.

Lala - Cop or Flop?

This of course, isn’t like SBCs in that there isn’t a conventional cost to this item due to him being unlocked via SP. However, as mentioned, there is a 500k/1k wall infront of him and honestly, I think if we were to be given an Evo at a fraction of the price that would create this card, a lot of players would be completing. Outside of this item come a lot of tradeable packs, more players and even evolutions. 

So with all that being said, I would say this card alone is a very convincing argument to spend your coins (Or real money, should you choose to do so) on unlocking the premium pass. This is a fantastic RB item that slots into teams quite easily. It is important to consider that TOTS is pretty much here, but even if you only use this card for a month, I feel the Premium pass in itself will continue to provide its worth, especially if done correctly.
