TOTW 13 PREDICTIONS

Christmas is coming, and what could possibly be better than an early present in the form of an incredible TOTW selection! There are plenty of superstar names featuring amongst our predictions this week, and with the possibility of daily FUTMAS SBC’s just around the corner, FIFA is about to get manic!

Starting Eleven

Lopez

The goalkeeper spots were actually fairly difficult to fill this week, but as usual we power on and for the first selection we head across to La Liga. Real Betis were 2-0 winners over Rayo Vallecano in their match this week, and while they may have won, they had to work for the points. Lopez was fantastic in goal, facing a total of 14 shots and pulling off 5 incredible saves to ensure the clean sheet.

Cancelo

Now before we jump into our next selection, keep in mind that the market seems to expect this card, and hence his OTW has already seen a disable increase in price! Our next selection brings us a familiar face, a face that many OTW owners would love to see feature this week. Juventus and Inter Milan are currently two of the top teams in the Serie A, and with a possible 6 points swing on the table, neither side were ready to lose. On the night, only a single goal could separate the two sides and while Cancelo may not have scored this, he did provide the assist while putting in a tremendous defensive performance to also take the man of the match award in this high stakes match.

Bender

From one full back to another, and with the lack of top draw defensive performances this week, it looks very possible that a single assist, alongside a clean sheet, may just about be enough. Leverkusen were 1-0 winners at home to Augsburg in their match on the weekend, and with a fantastic defensive display across the 90 minutes, combined with an assist, we may just see this Bender brother sneaking into the final squad on Wednesday.

David Luiz

Wow. That is the only word required when describing the fixture between Chelsea and Manchester City on the weekend. Despite the early onslaught and domination that the travelling team provided, Chelsea fought them off, only to turn the match on its head and take all the points in a 2-0 win. Chelsea’s defence was spectacular, but with the clean sheet and a goal to his name, ignoring David Luiz here is simply impossible.

Bruno Fernandes

Over to Portugal now, where Sporting are slowly rebuilding the great club that once stood with yet another convincing win this week. They took all 3 points with a 4-1 home victory of Aves, and despite plenty of top class performances, only one man was deserving of this spot. Fernandes may not have managed to find the net himself, but he did provide each and every assist, whilst dominating the midfield and running circles around the opposition from start to finish. This has just got to be enough, right?

Kimmich

O boy, now things get interesting! Is an assist from a midfielder usually enough for a TOTW spot? Of course not. Is Bayern picking up 3 points at home to Nuernberg a surprise? Hell no! So, why would we even consider putting Kimmich into these predictions? Well, answer this question, who doesn’t want to see a CDM Kimmich released into packs? That’s right, the public want it, it will likely sell packs, and hence EA could very possibly react!

Rashford

So up until this point, we have followed the regular formula with these predictions; a goalkeeper, a few defenders and then a couple of midfielders, but this is where things get a little messy. It seems like every single winger in the world decided to have a near perfect match this week, which leaves us struggling when deciding who to include and who to leave out. The first man to make the list is from a struggling United side, who were actually fairly convincing in their 4-1 win over Fulham on the weekend. While Mata has a chance with a goal and an assist, it’s Rashford who gets our vote, with 1 goal and 2 assists on the day.

Dembele

From one young winger to another now, as we move back across to Spain where we find an inform Barcelona side. Barcelona were away to Espanyol for their La Liga fixture on the weekend, where they took all the points in a very comfortable 4-0 victory. If Messi didn’t currently feature within the TOTGS he would have made this list without hesitation, however, he does feature and hence with a goal and an assist, we move onto Dembele for the spot this time.

Son

One last superstar winger, and then we can take a break until we move onto the bench! This is the man that has terrorised FUT players for years, this is the man that can single handedly break controllers week after week, and this is the man who could very possibly be receiving an inform on Wednesday. Tottenham were 2-0 winners away to Leicester in the late kick-off on Saturday, and with an incredible goal plus an assist for the second, Son strolls into our predictions.

Falcao

A bit of a controversial decision here as this game dates back to mid-week, which could very well be something EA choose to ignore. However, with the majority of Ligue 1 games postponed on the weekend, and the need for some Ligue 1 players, we find a very likely nomination as we take a look at relegation fighting Monaco. Monaco were 2-0 winners over Amiens on Tuesday, and although both his goals came from the spot, it’s a rare win from an underperforming team, which makes an inform very possible indeed.

Salah

We move onto our eleventh and final player to feature in this starting eleven, and don’t worry, you are not going to be dissapointed. A loss for Manchester City on the weekend not only saw Liverpool climb to the top of the league, but also leaves them as the only team yet to be beaten this season, and they showed exactly why this is with a 4-0 thrashing away to Bournemouth. Not only did Salah manage to bag himself a hat-trick, but he also started and finished the game from a striker position, possibly creating one of the scariest cards to enter the market this year.

Substitutes and Reserves

Leite

Onto the bench now, and onto our second and final goalkeeper selection of these predictions. Boavista were away to Nacional for their match this week, and while neither team could quite find the magic required to open the scoring, one man found some kind of magic to prevent the hosts from achieving this goal. Leite faced a total of 26 shots across the match, dominated his area and pulled of 7 incredible saves, giving him a serious chance of a big boost this week.

Tarkowski

Back across to the Premier League now, where Burnley were narrow 1-0 winners at home to Brighton on the weekend. Now only was Tarkowski an absolute rock defensively, but he was also the only man who could find the net on the day, which could very possibly see him landing his first Inform of the season.

Ghoulam

Napoli were comfortable 4-0 winners over Frosinone in their Serie A fixture this week, and while Milik was sensational up top, scoring twice, there is a different player we have decide to select here. Not only was Ghoulam a part of the defensive structure that ensured a clean sheet, but he also provided 2 assists across the match, and with a lack of defensive options this week, he could quite easily slide into the squad.

Torreira

Week after week, game after game, we see this youngster performing at the highest level. A solid performance, an assist, or even a goal is usually not quite enough, which has seen him just missing out far too many times! Today however, we believe is when this changes. Arsenal picked up a 1-0 win over Huddersfield on the weekend, and with Torreira scoring the only goal of the game with a bicycle kick, this could be his time to shine.

Mendez

Back across to Spain now, where Villarreal and Celta Vigo went head to head in a 5 goal thriller on the weekend. The points went with the visitors, Celta Vigo, in the end, and with a goal and two assists to his name, Mendez is the man who strolls into this 23 man squad.

Tadic

It’s been tough to exclude this man from predictions in recent weeks. Whether it was a solid performance in the league, or an incredible array of games throughout the Champions League group stages, Tadic is long overdue an upgrade, and this could be his week. Ajax were 4-1 winners away to PEC Zwolle in the league this week, and with a goal and 2 assists from the wing, surely this is his time!

Berghuis

It seems like if you were trying to secure a spot amongst our predictions this week, that the secret formula was 1 goal and 2 assists. This pattern continues as we move across to Feyenoord’s 4-1 win over F.C. Emmen, where Berghuis achieved exactly this alongside his top class performance.

Tsygankov

Finally! We come across our first hat-trick of these predictions, and it’s from a league that usually receives very little love when it comes to special cards this year. Dynamo Kiev were 4-0 winners over Karpaty this week, and with 3 goals alongside a near perfect performance, Tsygankov is a prime candidate for a spot amongst the elite this week.

Zapata

From one hat-trick straight onto another now, as we move back across to Italy where Atalanta brushed aside Udinese in a comfortable 3-1 win. Zapata was the hero on the day, scoring not once, not twice, but three times to secure his hat-trick, take the match ball, and most importantly get his name into our predictions this week.

Marega

It’s been a long time coming, this man has been absolutely sensational this year and to see him excluded from the TOTGS squad was nothing short of a crime. Marega doesn’t seem to be bothered however, with it only fueling his hunger and forcing him to demand a special card from EA. Porto took the points in a 4-1 victory this week, and with 2 goals alongside an assist, Marega can’t be left out again, can he?

Luuk de Jong

PSV continued their incredible start to the season with yet another goalfest at home to Excelsior this week. The match ended 6-0, and while there are plenty of repeat candidates for this spot, Luuk de Jong bagged himself two goals, and could be the latest addition to the flurry of PSV special cards to enter the market.

Martinez

Our final selection this week features a man who should already have a special card present within FUT this year. After winning the MLS MVP, and guiding his team to victory on the weekend, it is safe to say that the community expects some form of upgrade. The only question remaining, is what type of card will this be?
