TOTW 15 Predictions

TOTW 15 has the potential to be among the strongest weeks this year but at the same time could easily disappoint. As for the prediction it looks to be a strong one with Neuer, Lukaku and Ronaldo being the three best players.

Goalkeeper

Manuel Neuer – GK - OVR 89>>91
Munich recorded a 5-2 win despite falling two behind this weekend. You would think that after scoring five that we would see the likes of Lewandowski or Kimmich included in the side but with Kicker giving Neuer MOTM with a 1.5 I would be surprised if we fail to see the German international come Wednesday

Defenders

Kieran Tierney – LB - OVR 78>>82
There were a few Arsenal players in with a shout of making this side, with the Gunners form recently picking up. Tierney is probably the best option though after he was named MOTM for his goal and assist during Arsenal’s 4-0 win over West Brom this weekend, making it three on the bounce for them.

Manuel Akanji – CB - OVR 78>>82
Although the RTTF Akanji is always going to be his most attractive version to those with a high budget a potential IF for the Swiss defender offers a cheaper way to include him in your side. Akanji scored one of Dortmund’s two goals in their 2-0 win over Wolfsburg, claiming MOTM with a 2 match rating.

De Marcos – RB - OVR 78>>82
Most candidates from La Liga this week came from the wings so with De Marcos being a defender it gives him a big advantage due to positional spread. He gets the nomination for providing the assist on the only goal of the game alongside also making a goal-line clearance. Playing a vital role in Bilbao’s 1-0 win.

Midfielders

Lucas Ocampos – LW - OVR 82>>85
It was an eagerly anticipated match with EA’s first showdown of the year seeing Sevilla v Villarreal featuring Acuna and Coquelin. Sevilla came out on top making Acuna owners very happy, but it is Ocampos who played a big role in that win. Scoring once from the spot and assisting the other. With limited divisions this weekend he seems an obvious shout.

Ilkay Gundogan – CDM - OVR 83>>85
Manchester City continued their good run of form with a convincing 3-1 win over Chelsea. The IF is not obvious with any of De Bruyne, Foden and Gundogan possible on Wednesday. It’s the German who I am opting for though after he scored the opener and picked up a 9/10 from Sky for his performance.

Piotr Zielinski – CM - OVR 80>>83
Serie A registered numerous high scores this past Sunday with Napoli’s 4-1 win over Cagliari included in those. Zielinski scored both the first and second Napoli goals which were enough to see Gazzetta award him with an 8/10 match rating and in turn cements his side in TOTW 15.

Lucas Vazquez – RW - OVR 80>>83
Both Vazquez and Asensio have a strong chance of making this side with it being either or but no clear winner. I opted for Vazquez simply down to already having clear options on the left side from the division, this making Vazquez seems the sensible option. He recorded both a goal and an assist during Madrid’s 2-0 win over Celta Vigo.

Forwards

Romelu Lukaku – ST - OVR 85>>87
I still don’t really understand why Martinez was given the IF last week but due to that, it means he misses out on his hat trick this weekend. Inter managed a 6-2 win though and thus I can’t see the game being ignored. Lukaku is the second-best option after Gazzetta awarded him an 8/10 for his goal and assist.

Duvan Zapata – ST - OVR 83>>85
It’s been a while since we have heard the name Zapata potentially making a TOTW but, the Colombian finally found his shooting boots again after a run that saw just one goal scored in fourteen matches. Atlanta managed a 5-1 home win over Sassuolo this weekend though and Zapata managed to score two of the goals. Additionally, he picked up an assist and that surely should be enough for his inclusion.

Cristiano Ronaldo – ST - OVR 92>>94
There is a risk involved with this selection as Ronaldo is inevitably going to feature in TOTY but with no nominees released as of yet alongside no actual announcement from EA I feel that we have a few weeks yet. Ronaldo broke Pele’s official goalscoring tally this weekend after scoring twice in a 4-1 win for Juventus. Taking his personal tally to 758 and thus putting him just one behind Biscan’s 759. EA could wait and award him a RB item but he really should be making this week’s side.

Substitutes

Gianluigi Donnarumma – GK - OVR 85>>86
The hype surrounding Donnarumma has died down a little, but you still have to remember that the Italian is still only 21 years of age. He is going to be among the world’s best keepers still and holding down the Milan keeper position with ease. His latest performance saw 10 men Milan manage to keep a clean sheet thanks to five saves from Donnarumma. Gazzetta only awarded him a 7/10 but with so few keepers standing out that should still be enough for him.

Ben Mee – CB - OVR 79>>82
Burnley hosting Sheffield United was probably a must win game for both sides as we approach the halfway stage in the season, both sides are struggling towards the bottom of the table. Burnley was the side to pick up all three points though with Ben Mee scoring the only goal of the game.

Jose Morales – LM - OVR 79>>82
One of the most enjoyable matches this past week saw Levante come out on top against Betis via a 4-3 win. Morales was heavily involved in the host's performance, scoring twice and assisting another, playing from what looks to be a LM role.

Thomas Soucek – CDM - OVR 81>>84
Soucek has been in ridiculous form as of late for West Ham scoring in three of their last four matches, He looks set to pick up an IF this week after scoring the only goal of the match during a 1-0 win over Everton. Helping to spearhead them up to joint 7th in the table.

Baptiste Santamaria – CM - OVR 79>>82
With Ligue 1 out of action this weekend it leaves a few additional spots available for the TOTW selection and those who usually wouldn’t quite make the final cut now likely will. Santamaria is one of those players after he scored once in Freiburg’s 3-1 win over Hoffenheim. He was awarded MOTM with an impressive 1.5 match rating.

Vladimir Darida – CM - OVR 77>>81
Another Bundesliga midfielder likely to end up making the side is Hertha Berlin’s Darida. The midfielder provided the assist on two of their goals as they went on to beat the hapless Schalke 3-0.

Taremi – ST - OVR 77>>81
With a lack of gold striker options, I am willing to take the punt on Taremi this week despite failing to be Abola’s MOTM. That being said EA has seemingly walked away from that source for the current game and thus making Taremi more of a viable option.

Reserves

Karl Darlow – GK - OVR 73>>80
Goalkeepers were once again a nightmare to select but despite being a silver Darlow managed to stand out during Newcastle’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool. It was Liverpool's third consecutive draw which will see them frustrated, especially when you consider the miraculous performances of some keepers. Darlow was awarded MOTM with a 9/10 for his five saves during the goalless draw.

Josh Ruffels – LB - OVR 68>>76
After a slow start to the season, Oxford is picking up some serious form. They have now won their last four matches with the most recent being a 5-1 win. We have two very strong candidates from the match and Bizarrely both are defenders. Ruffels gets the nod for two goals and one assist but Long’s three assists also put him in with a strong shout.

Kyle Joseph – ST - OVR 52>>62
We have only seen one bronze IF so far this year but that tally could be about to double after Wigan’s Kyle Joseph managed to bag himself a hat trick during their 4-3 thriller away at Burton.

Jordan Bowery – ST - OVR 63>>73
The English silvers keep on coming. Bowery looks set to be the next to gain an IF after he scored three times for Mansfield on Saturday as they recorded a 4-0 win over Port Vale. There are a lot of candidates from the English Lower leagues so one or two could miss out but it’s difficult to decide who.

Carlos Strandberg – ST - OVR 70>>78
With limited divisions in action over the past week hat tricks were always going to make the side and thus Strandberg cruises into the side for his three goals during Abha’s 4-2 away win on Friday.
