FIFA 23 Fantasy FUT Coming Soon! Heroes, Latest News, Predictions, How Upgrades Work & More

The next promo coming to FIFA 23 Ultimate Team has been confirmed for this Friday, and it’s a fan favourite from FIFA 22, Fantasy FUT!

Fantasy FUT is another event, similar to Road to the Final, that delivers dynamic, live FUT items that upgrade depending on real world results and in-game contributions for the teams & players involved.

Let’s dive into all the content you can expect to see during the Fantasy FUT event, including all the upgrade information, and FUTBIN’s predictions for cards you can potentially be seeing in the FUT Fantasy squad!

Fantasy FUT Release Date

Fantasy FUT is coming to FUT this Friday, March 3rd in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, as confirmed by the latest loading screen, released on Tuesday.

It’s rumoured that Fantasy FUT will be a 2-week promo, lasting until March 17th, when it’s expected FUT Birthday will kick off.

Heroes Coming in Fantasy FUT!

Fantasy FUT Heroes are confirmed to be coming to the FIFA 23 edition of the event, with the card design confirmed in the loading screen.

It’s expected that Fantasy FUT Heroes will receive an initial campaign boost, and will have the opportunity to upgrade based on the performance of the team that their hero card is tied to.

For example, as rumoured in the community by FUTSheriff, a Yaya Toure Fantasy FUT hero could potentially be tied to Manchester City’s results, giving him the ability to upgrade based on their domestic league results.

How Do Fantasy FUT Cards Upgrade?

We’re still awaiting official confirmation from EA Sports to confirm whether Fantasy FUT cards will upgrade in the same way as previous years, but let’s take a look at how these dynamic items have upgraded in previous years.

In FIFA 22 Fantasy FUT, alongside the initial upgrade at the launch of the event, cards had the opportunity for a +3 OVR upgrade, with the following upgrade paths.

+1 – Player to make 3 appearances in the next 5 domestic league games
+1 - Player’s team to win 1 of the next 5 domestic league games.
+1 - Attacker OR Midfielder - 1 Goal or 1 Assist in the next 5 domestic league games | Defender OR Goalkeeper - 1 Clean Sheet in the next 5 domestic league games.

For FIFA 23, we’re expecting a slightly different upgrade system, with potential traits upgrades also included.

Here are all the current rumours for the FUT Fantasy upgrades coming to FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.

Upgrades are rumoured to be tied to the next 6 domestic league games, starting from March 17th.

+1 Upgrade for 1 win in the 6 domestic league games after March 17th
+1 Upgrade for avoiding defeat in the 6 domestic league games after March 17th

Check back soon to see the latest, confirmed upgrade paths for FUT Fantasy cards in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team!

Fantasy FUT Prediction FIFA 23

This is another non-performance-based prediction so take it with a grain of salt but the following is a rough idea of what to expect, with the teams being more predictable than the players themselves. We should be in for another strong promotion this coming Friday.

Fantasy FUT Heroes

There’s potential for some unreal FUT Fantasy Heroes to be included in the upcoming event!

We expect some names like David Ginola, Abedi Pele and Ivan Cordoba to feature, given that they haven’t been included in previous new hero releases, i.e. World Cup Heroes.

Thibaut Courtois - GK - 90 > 92 OVR

Real Madrid are on the chase of Barcelona and although it will be a tough ask there is still a chance they can manage it. As for who could be on this side I originally wanted to go with Rodrygo but with an injury, in his latest game, I have been put off that route. There are not many other playing options so Courtois may be the best shout from Madrid.

Joao Cancelo - LB - 88 > 91 OVR

What better way to introduce a promotional Cancelo card at Bayern than with a live item? The Portuguese defender has not started superbly for the side but will play enough minutes to be able to make this side Alternatively the only other option is Kimmich but with his central partner, Goretzka, in the latest promotion, I am leaning towards Cancelo here.

Manuel Akanji - CB - 81 > 89 OVR

I think the consensus is that Manchester City will end up winning the title this season with their squad depth being unmatched and the club's experience of the situation being far greater than those around them. I tried my luck with Akanji for the RTTF promotion and while that didn’t pay off I'm happy to take that route again with the card being very desirable. Alternatively, we could see Foden should he fail to make TOTW 18.

Fiyako Tomori - CB - 84 > 90 OVR

I promise this won’t just be a who didn't make it from my RTTF prediction but the circumstances for inclusion are very similar so there are a couple I am willing to take the punt on again here. Tomori is another, fitting the bill on various factors but especially pace. This will be among the best defensive cards in the game and last season's side didn’t disappoint either.

Jules Kounde - RB - 84 > 89 OVR

Barcelona are in a dominant position for yet another title this season but with Madrid, only seven points behind it’s not over yet. There are not many realistic options from Barcelona for this promotion which narrows it right down. Kounde is without a live item and would be a desirable option, thus I have opted for the Frenchman.

Marcos Llorente - CM - 84 > 89 OVR

Looking over the previous Fantasy FUT sides there is one thing that specifically stands out and that is the amount of pace within the side. Llorente fits the bill and without a special item to his name so far this season it leaves the door open for his first. Atletico are currently battling it out for a European place and Llorente plays the majority of minutes for them.

Bruno Fernandes - CAM - 86 > 91 OVR

Although it's an outside chance Manchester United are not out of this title race just yet. Their form is immaculate and they continue to thrive under Ten Haag. I got Martial correct on the previous promotion and I narrowed this one down to either Varane or Fernandes. With the latter more nailed on for minutes, I feel he will end up getting the nod though.

Bukayo Saka - RM - 82 > 90 OVR

The Premier League title race is still as intense as ever with many expecting Arsenal to have dropped off by now but the Gunners remain narrow favourites for the title heading into the final third. Saka has been huge for them and without a live item to his name to date he seems to be a strong candidate for one here.

Krepin Diatta - RM - 74 > 88 OVR

FIFA 22’s Fantasy FUT saw the popular Gelson Martins feature and we have a very similar option here in Diatta. It looks as though PSG will go on to secure yet another Ligue 1 title but Monaco and Marseille are battling it out for second. Diatta is probably the best candidate from the two sides thus he is in my prediction.

Kolo Muani - ST - 78 > 88 OVR

Kolo Muani has been well overdue a promotional card with many expecting him to be featured in the future star promotion especially. With Frankfurt battling it out towards the top of the table and Muani regularly scoring he provides an attacking option for this promotion with a lot of the popular forwards already being used to death.

Cody Gakpo - ST - 83 > 89 OVR

Although Liverpool are not battling in the same way you would expect they are in desperate need of points should they want to compete in Europe next season. Several players from the club can be utilised for this promotion with Gakpo being the best option for me. The Dutchman is off the mark for the club now and looks to build on from that.

Substitutes

Hamari Traore - RB - 80 > 89 OVR

There have been a few Ligue 1 wingbacks that have become very popular throughout FIFA with Traore being one of them. Rennes are competing towards the top of Ligue 1 once again and find themselves narrowly in the European spots as it stands.

Juan Cuadrado - RWB - 83 > 88 OVR

Juventus may have received a 15-point penalty this season but their performances have still resulted in them competing for a European spot. Cuadrado is often a fan favourite and with no live item to his name to date he fits into this side well.

Emre Can - CM - 82 > 88 OVR

As it stands Dortmund are currently level on points with leaders Munich in the Bundesliga. I fully expect both clubs to feature in this prediction and Dortmund have very few candidates which would work for this side. Can seems to be the best fit with a decent base card and regularly playing without a recent promotional card.

Weston McKennie - CM - 80 > 87 OVR

After a superb 2021/22 season Leeds are back to reality and find themselves in a relegation battle. Maybe getting rid of Bielsa was a bad idea after all. McKennie would make a solid all-round card for this promotion and with the Premier League getting a large quantity of the spots last season I would expect a similar story to occur again.

Ademola Lookman - RM - 77 > 87 OVR

With Napoli practically title in hand already I opted to ignore them and instead go for those around the European spots as they are the ones with something to fight for. Atalanta are currently in the final European spot as they look to battle towards the top four. Lookman is already a decent card this year and with a few more upgrades will become very usable.

Sheraldo Becker - ST - 76 > 87 OVR

Union Berlin were leading the Bundesliga only a few weeks ago and although they have begun to drop off they are still competing at the top. There is only one player likely to get in from their squad, on the basis of pace and that is Becker. Featuring in every Union Berlin game so far he should be nailed on for at least a couple of upgrades.

Silas - ST - 75 > 87 OVR

Silas was all the hype throughout periods of FIFA 22 with the pace demon's performances in real life allowing some very impressive cards to occur in the game. With Stuttgart battling against relegation this season the same can not be said. He is the perfect card for this type of promotion though and although he has not been among the goals as much should he grab just one we could be looking at a 90-rated Silas in a few weeks' time.
