After using Rijkaard's CB card in FIFA 16 and CDM card in FIFA 17, I was really excited to try this version when I saw the massive stat boosts compared to his previous cards. Unfortunately, this card, much like Rijkaard's previous cards, was very disappointing.
The thing that stands out most about this card (and Rijkaard's previous cards) is how awkward and clumsy Rijkaard is on and off the ball. In this respect, this card fails to capture the elegance and grace of the real-life Frank Rijkaard. Even his passing, when you consider his stats, doesn't feel particularly crisp or accurate. His pace stats are very good, and he is certainly not slow in game, but the fact that quick changes of direction with Rijkaard are so difficult really lets him down. At 6'2" and with very good jumping and heading accuracy (even without a chemistry style), you would expect him to be dominant in the air, but this is not the case. He often struggles to win aerial duels against tall strikers.
Despite these significant weaknesses, this 88 CB Rijkaard has exceptional tackling ability, and is strong enough to bully just about anyone off the ball. 87 stamina is just about as good as it gets for a CB. It's certainly not a bad card, but considering the price, it was very disappointing for me personally, and I think there are much better alternatives in most leagues.
