Player Review
88 - TOTS
Ruben Neves' card was one that I immediately decided to purchase after having a look at his stats. After having had used Bradley Dack's award winner card to provide chemistry to my LW POTY Sessegnon card, I decided to switch up my team to have the 7 chem to Sessegnon be provided through Neves rather than Dack, meaning I had to rework my team to add Barry Douglas' TOTS too to support Neves. Upon hoping into my first game, I was surprised by just how good Neves was. I decided to score him based on the following criteria:
Pace: (8/10)
For a central midfielder who is mostly going to play a holding role, his pace is good. He is able to catch up to and get past the opposition whilst controlling the midfield and does it superbly. For the position I wanted him to play (holding behind and able to feed to Sessegnon) he has done very well.
Shooting: (9/10)
When Neves gets a chance, he is able to have a good go at it from outside the box. His long shot stats and power are insane, and if you try your luck, there is a huge chance the shot gets really close, or even into the back of the net from 25+ yards.
Passing: (10/10)
His passing is phenomenal. He is able to find a pass quite easily, regardless of how hard it may seem for players of the same price value. He has had over 90% succession rate in every game I have used him so far, and has proved that he is a reliable player to create chances with.
Dribbling: (8/10)
His 3 star skill moves are the only thing really holding him back from being rated higher for me in this category, as so far for me, he hasn't ever really had a slip of the ball, and for the majority, has been able to shield it off and go forward with it quite well.
Defending: (9/10)
What I had intended with Neves is to use him to defend mostly, and he has shown that he is able to defend quite well. With the shadow chemistry style, his boost in pace benefits him in being able to boss the midfield and his standing tackle (which I use most) along with his decent strength, has made it challenging for players that I have played with to get pass him.
Physicality: (8/10)
Strength is decent, Stamina is the same thing, but on paper could be improved. However, haven't had an issue with it yet.
Overall: 9-10/10
9/10 If I had paid more for him, but due to his price, he is easily a 10/10 player for me.
