Magic Maradona

Wow. These reviews really don't give this card enough credit. Maybe it's because they were back when he cost a lot more than 1 mil but even at this stage of FIFA, I think Maradona is a great player for his price. Yes, you can get a TOTS Gomez now with way better looking stats for a third of the price. But what this card made me realize is that there are absolutely hidden Icon traits. I own quite a few icons and have always thought they feel slightly different but with Maradona it's instantly clear, he feels like no other player I've ever used. His acceleration is as if I've just activated a cheat code. I just tried TOTS Vardy who should be a bit faster, but Maradona accelerates at least 50% faster. His passes are all perfectly accurate and weighted. His "pitbull" style is also implemented in the game, he darts around snatching balls of players and wins more aerial duels and shoulder to shoulders then he really should. His shooting and finesse shots are also top tier. The only thing I felt could have been better is the weak foot. You can still score on it, but it's much harder to score those finesse shots you're use to him scoring. If he had 5* weak foot he would personally be the perfect card for me.

Two things to note though, smaller players with good dribble are my favourite type of players and suit my type of play. So he may not be the perfect player for you. Second thing is I never grew up watching Maradona, so there is 0 nostalgia affecting my opinion here. I just wanted to try an elite icon with amazing dribble and this card was the cheapest of Pele, Ronaldo and obviously Maradona. This card honestly just felt like something else and if you've never tried him and like smaller players, it's well worth the try and in the worst case scenario losing 50k on EA tax.

Weak foot, the only 'real' downside of this card. Can still score simple goals with it but finesse shots are inconsistent.

Strength, he won't be backing into Ferdinand anytime soon but he can definitely hold is own with the 98 balance.

Maradona review...

Firstly to be able to use Maradona you have to be very good at the game and play it a lot or get lucky in packs. I was very fortunate to pack a lot of IF and expensive players to be able to use him.
