Desailly 87

I picked up a clean 87 Desailly for 680K on PS4. I haven’t been able to find a review on this guy anywhere and after alot of deliberation I spent all my savings on defensive upgrades.

I consider myself a decent player, getting G3 in WL and collecting Elite1 in Squad Battles (Legendary diff) each week. Since the start of Fifa i played with 81 Sanchez and 82 Felipe both on Shadow, full chem. They were good enough for SB, but Online every other game I would come up against those highly imaginative BPL squads, and my CB’s would get exposed really badly by pacy players like Martial, Mane, Son etc (you know them all). It would feel like the game is broken as these forwards just run away and there is absolutely nothing my CB’s could do...

So I upgraded to 84 Bailly (Shadow) and 87 Desailly, (Shadow) and couldn't be happier. I played just under 30 games now (WL, Online Seasons and WL) and here are my thoughts.

Pace

Acceleration 98, Speed 94.

He is rapid, and you can really feel it. Very quick to close down Strikers that have the ball played to them. FFFast to track back if you are pushing up with your defensive line. I can honestly say I cannot remember if once my team conceded a goal with Desailly beaten for pace.

Defending

With exception of Heading acc and Interceptions all his stats go to 99, and thats what you get. Strong, solid and aggressive tackles. He takes the ball with ease off weaker more technical strikers and bullies bigger guys. With M/H workrates I found he is always in good position, no complaints or surprises there.

Physical

One of the standout attributes for me is his Stamina. There are few good defenders with stam > 80. His is 84 which is as much as you are gonna get from a defender before TOTY or TOTS. His strength and aggression are also in high 80’s, and that shows on the pitch. One weakness I could point to is heading. He is not the tallest defender out there and few times i conceded when he lost out in 1v1 aerial duels to Auba and Ibra.

Passing

He has 73 SP, which is not super, however it feels lot crispier and assured than my 85 IF Danilo Pereira’s (SP 82) who sits in CM position.

Dribbling

Agility (65) is very good. He turns easily when Jockeying and pretty good at changing direction if you are sprinting with him.

Ball Control 71 and Dribbling 50...I would not recommend being too clever with him in possession in your own penalty area. I tried and got caught out a couple of times which led to dangerous situations and goals. Lets just say he is not your go to ballplaying defender.

To conclude, I do highly recommend this card. He feels very similar to Bailly, but 10 percent better in each department. He’s always on 10 chem and will help to link up hybrids. And if you are tired of getting raped by cheap pacewhore squads, he is a strong buy.
