Carlos Puyol back in the days..

This card was absolutely amazing for me in the weekend league. Got myself to gold 1 for the first time ever.I played the card as a central defender on 7 chem(with loyalty and a Spanish manager) Defending was easy with Puyol. The card is obviously strong. He bullies of every player in the game on the ground as well as in the air. With the shadow chemstyle and and 7 chem, his pace goes to 82. His defending to 96 and his physical is already a staggering 89. Wasn't sure if 7 chemistry was enough, but it was more than enough. I asked myself the question why Puyol was so good in the weekend league for me. I figured out that his stamina is 91. I think this was key to his success. The change of winning a game in extra time is bigger because he can even keep up with the supersubs (except for Musa ofcourse). I don't think he is going to leave my squad for a long time, since he is around 300k. The better centre backs legends are minimal twice this price.

Pace(82) pretty decent for a centre back.

strength(89) strong as fuck.

jumping(86) no goals in the air.

aggression(88) what are you doing in the box my friend? Just go away..

STAMINA(91) just don't look any further.

He is a right back. So you have to play him on 7 chemistry. I didn't noticed any problems with it. But still a little con.

No cons whatsoever.

An All-round Defensive Machine

After packing him in the icon SBC, naturally I was disappointed considering the array of other legends out there. But I thought to give him a try and slapped a shadow chemistry style on him and honestly, after 10 games, he hasn't put a foot wrong. Looking at his stats, obviously the 76 pace sticks out as being low for a full back, but with shadow chem this is a lie. I faced Martial, Sane, Keita etc and Puyol kept up with and destroyed them the entire game, pace honestly felt about 84/85. Because of the insane strength he has, this meant that he would come out on top on 9/10 encounters with wingers. This also helped him win headers and i have to say he was truly exception in the air. Because of his high defensive work rates this meant he was always back to defend , facing the attacker. The only downside i can see to this is if you prefer your full backs to bomb up and down the pitch, Puyol would most likely frustrate you. Passing was alright, it gets the job done, although crossing is actually pretty decent, Puyol got me one assist in 10 games. Dribbling isn't horrific, he has enough to get himself out of danger,so as long as you don't get sudden urges to take on the entire team, you should be good. You may also have seen i managed a goal with him, a cheeky 2 yard tap-in, but unfortunately I did not get the chance to test whether his shooting ability extends more than 2 yards .

To summarise, in Puyol you'll be getting an all round defensive machine, with surprisingly good pace and the ability to perform at an elite level til the final whistle.

The hair- Who could resist ;)
Genuinely one of if not the best defensive full back you'll find
Pace is much better than suggested (With Shadow chem)
Will dominate in the air
Stamina - will destroy your opponent's martial right til the final whistle
Strength of a Ox- will annihilate most attackers

Dribbling is OK. Not going to beat a man, but that's pretty obvious
Price- Always going to be a drawback
