Edison Cavani IF Review

Firstly I primarily play season in Div 2-3 and Squad battles (finish Elite 1 most weeks). I am a serial squad seller. I always changed my squads every so often; rotating prem, serie a and bundesliga. On a whim I got a ligue 1 squad and on a whole I am shocked to find this is probably the most fun I've had all FIFA 18. The Majority of this is attributed to Cavani. I bought his in form after playing 20+ games with his normal card with the intention of testing, then selling it and reverting back to his normal.

I cannot bring myself to sell him.

This man scores goals. From any and everywhere. He feels like the most clinical finisher i've used this fifa, and i've used aguero,zlatan, lewandowski,SIF icardi extensively.

I will try to leave a fair and balanced review. Also note he will most likely go to 89 if in winter upgrades (His base at 88 on sosfifa, so it's a good long term card.)

Pace: Yes I am putting this as a pro. He is by no means a speedster but with a hunter chem style which i Highly recommend he can beat his man easily. You won't dribble the entire squad. But Cavani's 90 pace (hunter) and his amazing positioning will make it so you will be in a position to use a burst of speed to make the shots instead of being caught out and having to run it in.

Shooting: As stated he is just so clinical. in the box? Its a goal. From range? Goal. Once you have a clear shot go for it.

Dribbling: He holds the ball well, 3 star skills is sufficient for most players. A negative here if you are a skiller, but overall can turn/control excellently

Passing: Does excellent in 1-2's has a decent amount of assists for me, can even whip in a good cross if needed! Don't try to long ball it though. it will let you down.

Physical: His Stamina is excellent. At 90 minutes he feels fresh. During the game this man will NEVER stop running. NEVER stop tracking back and NEVER stop pushing forward into space. The most kinetic player I've used all year. Next closets is TOTGS firmino. This is my main draw to him, he never goes missing.

Defending: This is an odd one. He has an unusually high defending stat. His H/H work rates will put him in the midfield often and he will win the ball for you a surprising number of times.

Pace: As long as you don't expect him to be barry allen, you will be fine, unfortunately the meta of super counters if contagious and this may be a con for you.

Shooting: 3 star week foot. Due to his high finishing and shot power you will score some bangers with his left. Often. But there will be occasional misfire i would call this more like a 3.5 star weak foot. Its mostly reliable, but you will have that fear of missing and will, when you can try to put it on the right. This can affect your game sometimes.

Dribbling : Excellent control and speed in dribbles, but doesnt have that "smooth" feel. Better than the clumsier strikers (lukaku) but no where near the silky ones (martial).

Passing: Don't long pass, he doesnt know how to.

Defending: actually excellent, I list this here as you may not want a striker that drops deep and helps the midfield. To his credit though, even doing this he always pushes up when retrieving the ball due to his monstrous stamina.This is also why I think he works best in a two striker formation.

Physical: For what he costs and his stats he is not as good in the air as i would have expected, not to say he is terrible but it doesn't play a large part of his game as you would expect with his stats: satisfactory but by no means living up to his numbers. Also he is weak. While his strength stat isn't the lowest, the combination of it and his low balance will have the stronger defenders putting you in their pocket. This also retracts from his aerial ability as previously stated. He can put the headers in, but he usually gets bodied in the process of getting to it.
