As a defender I wanted to try Ginter out immediately after his release. I had previously been using Hummels, however I felt he was solid, however lacked the pace of Boateng to be as strong as he could at the back. Therefore I felt the need to try this Ginter card, using a shadow on it, bringing him to a 92 overall, with 82 pace and 97 defending. And have you ever seen a player card with the picture stretching out of the card like Ginter's hand (yes this is in game as well).
My initial impression was that he felt a lot faster and less clumsy than Hummels, however if the oppenent got a quick break, his 59 acceleration lacks. However on a long chase down the field, Ginter always seems to catch up and make the important tackle with his 79 sprint speed. These stats go up to 74 acceleration 89 sprint speed with a shadow applied. I feel if the same situation was to happen with Hummels card, he wouldn't be able to catch up.
His 97 defending stats are a great show of how he defends. He never seems to make a mistake when going in for a tackle, and is always there to block the shots in the vital moments. His 86 reactions made for some impressive interceptions. His aggression however lacks compared to Boateng, but to Hummels is similar
His passing is also impressive for a center back. He got 8 assits for me in my 40 games through mainly long passes. When Ginter is on the ball you always feel confident he will do the right pass better than Hummels or Boateng would with his 84 long and short passing.
Next comes his shooting. Surprisingly for a center back, he scored 6 goals in 40 matches, which is the most for any CB for me this Fifa. Three of the goals were headers off corners with his 99 heading accuracy and the other three goals were shots from the edge of the box which impressively went in as of his 91 shot power.
I took an unusual notice of Ginters dribbling, where it seemed to be above average for centre backs. His 82 ball control helps him get out of some tough situations and is a good hidden skill for a centre back. His 77 composer however will cause him to make a few mistakes which Hummels wouldn't.
Finally is Ginter's physicality. Ginter's 78 stamina outdoes both Boateng and Hummels, with it never feeling like a problem as it does with Boateng. However his 88 strength is usually solid, he will sometimes get pushed of which never seemed to happen to Boateng and Hummels. His 74 aggression is also lacking to Boateng and can be felt sometimes in game, however is better than Hummels. Don't get me wrong though, his physical is still great, just not as good as Boateng.
If you put a shadow on Ginter's card he becomes a beast. He is essentially the faster Mats Hummels who is 20k cheaper! No he is not as good as good as Boateng, however I feel he is the best partner in crime for the Boateng in the Bundesliga back 2. His M/M work rates along with his 6'2 height make him an amazing centre back who will also score and assist the odd goal for you!
