83 - IF
3.5
Solid Ligue 1 Option!
By xxxx1337ski11zx, 30-12-2017

Marcelo's IF was a card I was excited to use as I had just used his NIF in a first owner Ligue 1 team, where he was quite solid. I hadn't been paying any attention to his form IRL and was pleasantly surprised when I saw him in the TOTW 15 announcement. I didn't hesitate to pick up him immediately upon his release into packs on XBOX for 14.75k.

PACE: Marcelo's combo of 64 acceleration with his med/med WR left him susceptible to being caught out quite easily something which his 74 sprint speed couldn't make up for, even with a shadow chem style.

SHOOTING: Thankfully I never had to personally witness Marcelo's shooting stats in action, despite them not looking particularly awful for a cb.

PASSING: This was one where area where Marcelo surprised me. He was more than capable of good distribution from the back line, which comes from his 80+ stats in both short and long passing, and his long passing trait.

DRIBBLING: As with most tall defenders, Marcelo's dribbling is not capable of too much more than the very occasional foray into the midfield, with the 52 agility and 50 balance being the main culprits.

DEFENDING: This is where Marcelo's 82 rating at cb is justified. Without a standout stat here (besides the 87 heading accuracy, which has become trivial with a majority of cbs toting upwards of 85+) Marcelo can find himself out of depth with only 82 marking and 79 slide tackling. He can only cover so much before his cb partner will be needed.

PHYSICAL: Marcelo's strength is the main stat to celebrate here. He is capable of going toe to toe with nearly any outfield player in terms of strength. His 75 jumping was typically just enough to keep the ball away from the goal. 77 stamina was more than enough for even extra time. However, with only 76 aggression he will not be attacking the opposition on his own, leaving that more often than not up to you.

OVERALL: At the end of the day IF Marcelo is only an 82 rated cb and that often shows with low aggression, average marking, and med/med WRs being the main negatives. If it's strength your'e backline may be missing, than he is certainly an option to consider. At a price point of only 13-15k due to TOTW 15 sbcs, he is capable of holding down a position as an affordable mid tier inform defender in both a Brazilian and a Ligue 1 side, and with his current form IRL a SIF is something to consider.

  • Cheap inform
  • Great passing
  • Crazy strength
  • Decent height and jumping
  • Inform hyperlink to Marcal
  • Average pace with low acceleration
  • Average defending stats
  • Low aggression

A BEAST
By WHITECHRONIK, 03-03-2018

This guy reminds me of Bailly or Boateng. Ok he is not complete like them, but he has a similar aspect: If the enemy striker gets too close to Marcelo, he knows he is f*cked. Marcelo will just tackle on him and destroy him.

191cm | 6'3". Even if he has only 76 jumping, he his my main solution for offensive and defensive corners. Impossible to beat unless he is against another god of this area.

95 (YES 95) Force + 85 Standing Tackle -> As i said, if the enemy striker is close to Marcelo it's over for him.

The price is ok

Good club and nation

70 Pace on it's card, and in game he isn't faster. It's a correct stat and his other strenghts make up for it, but you have to associate him with a fast CB (as i did with Marquinhos) for a good synergy.
