As if his base card wasn't meta enough, they gave him an 85 upgrade (well deserved imo), but this card is ridiculous! In the squad I used him in (only Rabiot is played off chem before the formation change) he plays alongside Rabiot, which works perfectly. With his lack of height, but quicker speed, playing him next to a taller, more physical player gives a perfect balance to the team, especially in a 4231 formation, but he definitely works better as a CM in a 41212 (2).

So I needed a good defensive player with capacity to link my defense to my attack. I couldn't be happier to pack this BEAST! Without even trying, this guy made 10 assists and 9 goals in 10 games while being the most irritating player for my opponents that TRIED to attack. Gave my team the stability it needed while being fenomenal in defense. The only thing I can say about this guy is that he is one of the most complete players that I have played. Simply outstanding.

This fernandinho tots card was one of the best cards at cdm until futties. With all these fast strong cards, he struggles to keep up and outmuscle opponents. Compared to tots Goretzka, who is only 50k more, he is so much worse. However, compared to Goretzka, he is often better positioned to defend and makes positive forward runs. Furthermore he can take the place of a center back or wing back who moves up the pitch. However, I find that with only 83 pace, even with a hunter, struggles to keep up with the new fof cards and struggles physically

This guy is the best, most complete CM ive ever used this year.

He is EVERYWHERE. his interceptions are insane, his defending is like a TOTS bakayoko on steroids and he is really quick and has great shooting as well.

This guy is worth every coin. This guy will stay in my squad till fifa 19, this card belongs in the list of prime vieira, prime petit and gullit.

Don't get me wrong, this is obviously a good card, but for the money you're paying and considering the other options out there it's really hard to recommend this card. When I first saw this card I immediately knew I was going to try him, he looks like the best CDM in the game. So I pick him up as well as the TOTS Fabinho and played them both in a 4-2-3-1, and every single game Fabinho got a higher rating. He just doesn't have anything that stands out to me, he's not particularly fast and he seemed to get outstrengthed way more than I would have hoped (even with anchor). I tried him with engine, anchor and shadow and none of them changed my mind. He's tackling and passing is nice but at this point in the game I'm looking for a CDM that amazes me and can do almost everything. I think just his height alone limits him and made me realise I don't want an average height player in CDM anymore, with smaller players like kante it feels much easier to sprint around the pitch snatching the ball off players, and with taller/stronger players like Fabinho you feel untouchable as everyone bounces off you and you can easily win headers from goal kicks. Fernandinho wasn't winning the headers, or any physical battles, as much as I would like and with that heading accuracy I'm not sure it would've mattered even if he did...

After reading back my own review now it sounds like Fernandinho would maybe fit the role of a CM much better than a CDM. But if you're like me and looking for a great CDM, try out Fabinho; he's less than half the price, has a way bigger presence, got higher ratings every game for me, and also has the small bonus of 99 pens which could make him your new penalty taker.

So all in all a good card, but way too expensive and not the best option out there in my opinion. I honestly wanted this card to be good, the stats look insane, but sometimes in this game stats don't mean everything. I guess he doesn't feel very "meta" for lack of a better word. I even feel regular Vidal could do a pretty similar job as him.
