First couple of experiences with Buffon were pretty much the same most other reviews I have seen on this page - I found that thinking I had a 98 rated keeper behind me made my defending sloppy and I basically let my opponent have shots being far to confident. After those 2 horrendous loses that (I was sure were Buffon's fault )I started to treat him as any other keeper and defend solidly. From then on I realised how amazing this guy actually was! I found he would reflex save or dive to save 9/10 shots occurring inside the box with the speed to recover and save any second shots my opponent would try and sweat. He has the speed to deal with any dangerous through balls (I did find you would have to call him out) and has the throwing and kicking ability to initiate dangerous counters.

Low Driven shots - my experience is mixed - not having the trait Save with Feet on a GK often turns my stomach as early in FIFA 18 Low Drivens were the bane of my life. All I can say is some have gone in but I have had a stand out moment where I was caught on the counter following a corner in the 85-90th minute and tots Lozano was galloping unpressured 1v1 with Buffon and this gem managed to save the Low Driven shot and maintained my 2-1 lead.

Overall I'd recommend - he's made a impact on my gameplay and may do so for you!

DO NOT DO THE SBC for this guy he looks amazing but believe me he is absolutely terrible, barely makes a save practically everything goes on, after 2 games i was already sick of the fool but i stuck with him to see of he would improve but NO, the only use for this guy is another sbc other than that just a total waste of time how EA can make a goalkeeper of this standard this bad is beyond belief and there is better bronze goalies from korea than this bloke....DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I can't believe all the bad review I'm reading. Let me start by saying I'm a Juventus fan, a Buffon fan and have played since Christmas with the Xmas Buffon edition in one squad.(I have two to avoid wasting coins on fitness). I have played around 1700 games on FUT this year, and about 300-400 I have used the Christmas card, so I know a lot better than reviewing him after only 4 matches. I have used the likes of Begovic, Ederson, De Gea, Scmeihel, Sczezny, Handanovic, Reina, Perin, Ter Stegen, Navas, etc. The only high rated I haven't played are Neuer and the icons (except icon Scmeihel, excuse me for writing it wrong).

I didn't like the gold card of Buffon, I felt there was way better keepers for way better price, then I tried his christmas cards and was a huge improvement. And this card is a huge improvement from that one. Not gonna lie, I was dissapointed the first match because 2 shots 2 goals, but as I'm fan of the card I went other 15 matches with him. First thing I noticed was his speed improvement, that helps those hateful through balls to those hateful speedy strikers/wingers. Over those matches he has made a lot of great saves and dives. His main strengths, IMO, are his reflexes and his positioning. When he blocks the opponent's shots, his dives doesn't seem so flashy because of how well positioned is this card, rarely out of place. And then we have his reflexes, he's pulled me some amazing saves, stopping shots from everywhere. In corners/crosses he does his job (nothing exceptional). If he has any weakness are low driven shots, but those is an Achilles heel for most keepers (even those with saves with feet trait).

Bottom line, he is a legend, a cheap one (98 rated goalkeeper), end of an era Buffon, so sad to see him leave(not the same in PSG).If you have our club stacked with tots cards and high rated untradeabe, sure do this sbc, you won't regret it. If you need to spend like 40-60k, sure do this sbc, you won't regret it. If you don't have any player and you need to spend 140k to get him, then think about it twice, because goalkeepers aren't that game changing. If you are a Buffon fan, sure do it, he'll do the job.

You would hope that EA would put a little more attention into the performance of it's franchises highest rated GK. This card has some incredible strengths, but they aren't enough to overcome his weakness, the low driven shot. I know low driven shots are OP, but for Buffon they are literally unstoppable.

I still kept him in my team mostly because it's the end of FIFA 18 and many of my cards are untradeable, so making a new team is harder. At this point I just defend to his weakness. He'll stop crosses and long shots all day, so I pack the box with 2 solid CBs in TOTS Chiellini and TOTS De Vrij.

Value: the SBC was not too expensive, so good value considering just the rating, but not the performance.

at first i tried him with wall,he was awefull, i was scared of every shot and he mist so much, after 4 games i changed him to shield and it was a completely different keeper, he was amazing, even in the 1v1's what i didn't expect after reading some reviews. if you're still doubting, don't , pick him up before it's to late because he is amazing.
