Elton: A Unique Individual

I've built a Silver Brazilian XI this season, and Elton is the marquee player in that squad.

Initially I was weary about his flaws, his frankly laughable 33 strength rating, and underwhelming 72 stamina were reason enough for concern. Defensively he offers close to nothing, while in the air he'll rarely challenge.

However- you can meet these requirements in and around him with any number of central midfield options. The aim of the game is to facilitate Elton's safe inclusion as a luxury maverick by offsetting these weaknesses in other areas.

Free from any defensive responsibilities whatsoever, it's now that your opponent will be faced with the harrowing task of containing him.

10 minutes into my first game with Elton, I hadn't noticed anything unusual. He hadn't been on the ball yet.

But as soon as he'd completed his first dribble, I literally had to pause the game. I was close to crying with laughter.

His height is listed at 5'2, it's not something I really considered- I have other short players. But this is different.

His character model is so small- in not only height- but general volume- the mass of the player, that it looks as if you are playing somebody from the Under-12 side. It is not an exaggeration to say that he is half the size of your average defender- in all directions. Combine that with his outrageous ability with the ball, and it's an utterly hilarious sight to behold.

With Artist Chem, his dribbling stat is boosted to 90, agility and balance to 86 and 84 respectively. His passing also receives an upgrade with the majority of stats residing in the mid-80s (not unlike his hairstyle).

His default sprint speed- which is likely the reason he caught your eye in the first place, stands at a blistering 90. All combined, he is simply electric across the carpet.

He may be weak, but the opposition will need to get close enough to exploit that. His movement is reminiscent of Messi, not a statement one should take lightly. He melts through defensive lines, his 5* skills cowing defenders who likely have cats larger than him at home. It has been said, many often retire in real life once they've spent 90 minutes on the same pitch as The Silk Dwarf.

Elton is also more than capable of finishing his dinner, and while sometimes placing shots too close to the 'keeper, he rarely skews wide and once he's in position- will roll the ball in the back of the net 9 times out of 10- even with unimpressive finishing stats. The sheer panic and mayhem he causes by rocketing into the box alone often causes goals via penalties and rebounds.

Often, players on the pitch blend in to one. Unless the commentary alerts you, or you clock the indicator, much of the time you aren't entirely sure who you're giving the ball. With Elton- you know.
