81 - Normal
As a Leicester fan, Vardy is always high up on my shopping list. On FIFA 18 I bought him early on for 30,000 coins - a fee that is dramatically reduced now, but despite that, he's been worth every penny. In fact, I prefer Vardy to IF Jesus (84 rated) and Aguero's 89 card. Perhaps he just suits my style of play more, I dont know. Vardy offers raw pace and makes really good runs, he has a habit of getting a foot in when looking likely to be dispossessed, and a real habit of finding himself 1 on 1 with the keeper - and theres only ever one winner in that situation. What I love about Vardy is the fact you''ll often find him winning you possession on the half way line, tracking back and pressing defenders. The lad is explosive and still terrorises defences in the weekend league.
Raw pace. Raw determination. An absolute pest in life and in FIFA 18.
Long shots and lack of curve. Doesn't win a great deal of headers.
As it is early on in the game (at the time of writing this review at least) it may be a tough decision to invest upwards of 30,000 coins on an 81 rated player; however Vardy is just something special. It is evident that during this stage of FIFA, quick Premier League strikers appear overpriced - especially with a new season of FUT Champs round the corner. Although this is true for the most part, Vardy does not fall under the category of overpriced. Far from it, even.
After 30 games with him in a mixture of Daily knockout tournament matches, Squad Battle fixtures and other FUT game modes alike; Vardy has amassed a tally of 40 goals and 7 assists. I can safely say that, for me at least, he is the perfect striker thus far. Of course FUT players are mainly judged based off the play styles of their users, and Vardy fits my counter attacking style perfectly, but I feel as if he could fit in any team; whether as a lone "get in behind" striker or partnered with someone taller.
The combination of his blistering pace, pin point first touch and accurate finishing has made me love this Vardy card already. I have made friends angry in (not so) friendly FUT matches and won the DKT with ease during Vardy's debut and subsequent 3 other matches. Now, on to the specifics:
91 PAC - His standout stat, obviously. On the break Vardy's acceleration and sprint speed are second to none. I have beaten countless centre backs and fullbacks countless times and with the "get in behind" instruction on he always seems to make darting runs towards the goal.
79 SHO - I hate to sound cliché but this is a lie if I ever saw one. His finishing is spot on; low driven shots almost always sneak their way past the keeper and his 85 shot power seems absurdly high in game.
63 PAS - Due to me using Vardy in a lone striker formation and isolating him as the last man, he rarely finds a need for the passing stat. However, during successful one twos his short passing seems to be very good.
77 DRI - Yet another lie . He feels agile in game (likely down to him not being the tallest), but the biggest surprise is his first touch. It's amazing. Almost every time he receives the ball he is one step ahead of the defender and has already planned his escape route. The sharpness of his turns from a well-weighted pass is mesmerising.
51 DEF - Occasionaly tracks back due to his High defending workrate and sometimes wins the ball back. Overall as you would expect from a striker.
78 PHY - Okay. His stamina is great and his aggression is high, however he isn't overly strong and his heading is poor. But, not needed for my play style.
3* WF - His left foot feels accurate, not as great as his right, but still mostly on target. If I didn't know it I would assume he has 4*
3* SM - Doesn't need to skill as by the time he has the ball he is 1-on-1 with the keeper! I don't skill anyway.
Overall Vardy is an exceptional card and, although he is only 81 rated, I would happily pay more than 30k for him knowing what he can do on the field. I can't wait to try him in FUT Champions...
