Player Review
84 - Normal
Last year Son was one of the best cards in the game, I used his striker card in almost all of my squads and he was banging in goals left, right and center. And not just simple shots from inside the 6-yards box, most of them were absolute screamers. I read all the good reviews and thought I NEED to use his card again. I gotta say, Son this year just isn’t a card I am going to use again. I used him in the 4-2-3-1 at the LAM spot. He started on 10 chem and in game I would change the formation. I applied the HAWK chem style to him.
PACE: (7/10)
His card has 86 pace without any chem style applied. However, it doesn’t feel like he has that much pace. He doesn’t have that pace boost players like Mbappe, Mané or Salah have. He doesn’t tear apart defenses with his pace on a counter attack. He is quick, but not extremely fast. This is something I like in a winger so Son didn’t really work for me on this position.
SHOOTING: (8.5/10)
Son’s shooting is still very good. His 88 longshots combined with his 5* weak foot are incredible. Timed finish finesse shots are broken this year and son can really bang them in the back of the net. When you play against him, do not give him space to take a shot from long range. He can really bang them from out of nowhere.
PASSING: (6.5/10)
81 curve is quite decent. Nothing too special however. His other passing stats are average. Isn’t really the most important for a winger, so I will let him off on this one ;)
DRIBBLING: (8/10)
Son has some good stats when it comes to dribbling. You can turn very fast with him when you’re not sprinting at full speed. When at full speed, he quite often gets out off balance or turns a bit slow. He is very good in small spaces but not so good when he is in a 1-on-1 with a defender at full speed. The dragback is a good skill to use with Son. If you like skills, Son could be your guy with his 4*. I don’t really use them.
DEFENDING: (6/10)
When using de 4-2-3-1 the LAM and RAM drop back when you lose possession. It’s quite important those players can defend. Son has some terrible stats when it comes to defending. However, for an attacking player he retakes possession quite frequently for me. I don’t know how he manages it, but he does. 6/10 for an attacker. DO NOT USE AT FULLBACK TOUGH :)
PHYSICALITY: (5,5/10)
One of the worst thing about this card is his physicality. His stamina is good. He can easily play the full 90 minutes, needs a sub when you go to extra time in the weekend league. Because he isn’t lightning quick he could use some strength to muscle off opponents and keep the attack going. When you manage to lose the opponents fullback make sure you pass the ball to another player before taking on the center backs. Son gets easily pushed off the ball and caught because he is very weak.
OVERALL: (3,5/5)
My advise is to use him in a central role where he does not have to rely on his pace that much. His shots are impressive and he has some good dribbling. At only 30k he is a good option for some cheaper teams. At the same price range I would go for Anthony Martial instead of him when you want to play him at the LM/LW position.
