93 - Flashback SBC

I’m not the guy that completes every other player SBC that comes out, but when Flashback Depay showed up on Friday evening I knew I had to get him for my squad, having followed his career ever since his days at PSV.

We could talk all day about his stats, but I don’t think that would be relevant since you can check them for yourself. What we are all curious about is how he feels and performs in game, and if he is worth his price tag of 700k.

I started him at LCAM in a 4231 but moved him to ST in a 352 (Div 2). I want him in front of goal and making runs in between the oppositions CBs. He'll probably play well as a wide midfielder, CAM or striker, but I've preferred him as a striker in a two striker formation.

Movement

98 pace speaks for itself, the guy is fast. Unfortunately gameplay and delay is a big factor here, but he shines when the gameplay is good. 96 dribbling is no joke either, I consider Messi and Ziyech (!) to be the best dribblers I’ve used in the game, but I have to admit Memphis is up there with them. The unique thing about Memphis is that he also has really good physical stats, which is a very valuable combination. He has great ball control but won’t get shrugged of the ball easily. 5* skills is of course nice if you are into that sort of thing.

Finishing

With a chemistry style you can quite easily max out all the important shooting stats. The elephant in the room is of course the 3* WF, which may be the only thing that separates him from elite players like Eusebio. I’m not going to lie and say that it feels like a 4* or something, it is what it is. The 87 composure has actually been noticeable for me, as he is not just as consistent in front of goal as you would have hoped. But on the other hand, in this game, who is?

Physicality

I think his physicality is what makes this a unique card. Especially after TOTS there are a lot of fast wingers with great dribbling, shooting and passing stats. But usually they then have 70 strength and 60 aggression, which is not the case with Memphis. This guy bullies FB David Luiz and van Dijk with the ball glued to his feet. The jumping can be boosted to 93 with the right chemistry style which means he is also capable of scoring headers. I hate to have to complain about 89 stamina, but he is the first attacker I have to sub out. 90 minutes is usually not a problem though.

Value

Is he worth the price tag of 700k? Honestly, if you have to do him from scratch, then probably no. Not that he is not worth it, I just don’t believe in dumping that much value in a card that will occupy the LW for the rest of FIFA 19 when tradeable IF Neymar is 600k (or the NIF at 170k). Then again he is such a unique card that you can’t just go and buy a tradeable player that has about the same stats. If you have some untradeables you are looking to put in an SBC and can get him on full chem, I can say that he is one of the most fun cards I’ve used this year, and I encourage you to do it.

Competitive pace, shooting and passing. Physicality and dribbling stats are next level. 5* skills.

3* WF, can be difficult to get on 10 chem.
