Player Review
93 - TOTS
From the launch of the Prem TOTS, he was target #1 - Brazillian Links - 4*SM 5*WF and a mix of Pace, Dribbling and shooting, I had to have him in the club. I run a first owner club, which made the goal challenging but was hoping for a little pack luck.
I’m typically a consistent Silver 1 player (with the occasional Gold 3 when I don't get DC losses). I'd grinded to Gold 3 the week before for the extra player pick only to get foiled by that other Prem Brazillian dud in my champs rewards. I was starting to lose hope until I finally nabbed him in the last 4 Rare Prem Upgrade I was going to do before the SBC closed (wish I could clip it, but did it on mobile). The hype was real.
I started off playing my first 7-8 matches with a Marksman on him and him alternating between a CAM in a 4-2-3-1 behind Lewandowski and as a right ST in a 4-4-2, but after a rough start to the WL (I was 2-6 at the time), I hit him with an Engine and switched him with Lewandowski to play striker and the magic started to happen. He carried the team on to finish Gold 2 for the first time.
Overall:
Even if he was tradable, I'd still keep him for my end game squad. He fits the meta with strong dribbling, 5* weak foot and good shooting. He quickly took over as the guy I'd want on the ball late in a tight game and the guy to really give me the confidence to bite down and try for a comeback even if I was down a few goals. He's dangerous anywhere in the opponents half when he has the ball. He's a fun player to use and really made me excited play the Sweat Fest that is TOTSSF Weekend League.
Pace:
He has deceptive pace - he’s not a pace abuser’s wet dream like Adama or Ben Yedder to just run through a team, but he is rapid. He has the pace to pull away from even pacey defenders. What's deceptive is that he really slowed the game down around him. If you lay off the sprint, he would control the ball and then explode into space in the box (lots of little 1-2s with Kaka, Lewa and Mbappe).
Dribbling:
He’s really good on the micro-turns and holding the ball in and around the box. He felt nimble in spite of the expectation with his balance that he would be clunky. He was hard to move off the ball since he shields well and turns really well when in close contact to the ball and felt smooth in and out of skill moves.
Shooting:
He scored me some bangers! His shot power is next level and in spite on only having 80 long shots, belted a few from the top of the box. Where he excelled was from controlling the ball and shooting inside the box. The 5*WF meant he was deadly with both feet and he felt amazing shielding the ball against a defender and then opening up to either side and rocketing a shot top bins. I hit a lot of posts with him early on, but given the results in those matches, my gut tells me those are on me for rushing shots form poor angles.
Physicality:
He’s strong for his body type and his stamina lasted me through a few sweaty extra time/pens matches down the homestretch to gold.
Balance:
The only time I felt any issues with him on the ball was while sprinting where he could get bumped off the ball at high speeds.
Misc
I sometimes seemed lose him in the crowd when he is off the ball (his avg body type, blue boots etc.), but he'd still pop up when you need him in the final 3rd.
I'm not a fan of his stupid default pigeon celebration that's default if I wasn't quick enough on the L1+R1 (better than Pogba's, but only just)
