Player Review
91 - Icon
First off- the racism towards this player is appalling. The cries of Mammoth need to stop.
In game, he’s not what you might expect. Early in the year- you can see why he’d be ideal- he’s positional interceptions are strong & close range 1:1 he forces most players off the ball when you have direct runners coming at you BUT if a strong dribbler is running at you- he CANNOT turn. Even with a shadow equipped he feels slow & is often left stranded and out of the play. Similarly, whilst his passing is adequate- If it’s intercepted, most players of 90+ speed will be straight past you- the almost bronze level of agility/balance make a huge difference.
TOTSSF CB’s in general are better all round & start at a quarter of the price. After trying this, I’ve switched back to Andy Robertson (yes the LB) as CB as he gives me far more tactical flexibility & defensive reassurance. If you want an Icon CB for chemistry- save an extra 100k & go for Cannavaro or Ferdinand. If you want English, Joe Gomez is rapidly approaching this price bracket.
- Powerful & swift against direct runners.
- his size is intimidating to opponents.
- ressuring to be left back whilst other players push forward.
- icon chemistry.
- A pure defender
- strong on set pieces.
- In the current meta, slow on the turn & cumbersome. You get once chance with the tackle- If your opponent is past you, he’s out of the game.
- he defends- there is no tactical flexibility where he will step into midfield or wings as cover
- whilst his passing is adequate, if a pass is misplaced- you’re in trouble as his recovery is weak.
- you can buy much better TOTSSF options for considerably less.
