Player Review
88 - League Player
After packing Pereyra and finding out he's absolutely mental, I needed a way to link him to a mostly Ligue 1 team and sure enough, Benedetto was just waiting there.
Objective actually took about 2 hours to finish since I already had a lot of players.
Now, I'm not a great player, I mostly play friendlies and SBs, but I float between Div 5 and 4 as far as Rivals go. Must be noted that I don't usually like more physically strong and tall strikers because they feel clunky. None of that matters with Benedetto.
He's tall, fast, agile and strong. His shooting is incredible as long as you're inside the box. He won't probably be banging in 30 yard screamers all the time, but that doesn't seem to be his role at all. Paired to a smaller, more agile striker in a 2 ST formation (Been using Mid Butragueno myself) he can either ram your adversary's defence, or fall back in and act as a CF with ease, although his lungs will eventually hate you for it. Out of 5 Rivals games (Div 4) he took home 5 goals and 7 assists, which is pretty good to me considering 3 of those games were against Mendy and Varane as usual. 3 of those goals were headers.
More meta-focused players won't probably like him due to 3*SM but if you're not really into spinning in a circle of feints and stepovers for 45 minutes straight, you won't notice too much of a difference anyway. 5*WF is just wonderful though.
-His build. He's tall, great with headers, pacey and agile more than you'd expect from his physique.
-Incredible finishing.
-He's free if you spare a few hours in friendlies (And if you remember to play them as friendlies and not as if you were fighting for a WL Gold 3, you'd probably enjoy it too.)
-Adaptable; Can either be a solid poacher, or a ramming CAM/CF. Your pick.
-Once again, he's free with decent link options (Di Maria, Lautaro, Messi etc.)
-5*WF.
-His stamina. Playing him as CAM really drains him. He'll be playing about 60 minutes unless you have him stay forward and at that point, you better have some good subs ready.
-3*SM. It's not really necessary but unless you just charge into them (And it actually works quite well), you might have some issues with the usual fast defenders. Just try not to stand around too much and keep him on the move.
-Passing. It's just not as good as it looks on the card. Engine really helps out.
-It's not a game changer: don't expect him to singlehandedly win you games like Mbappé or Neymar do. He's an incredibly solid supporting option, but works best alongside or behind a world class striker; Benedetto is just the grunt doing the dirty work.
