Big Ol' Chonk McKennie
By SonicOnset, 03-07-2021

Welcome to my first futbin review and the player we're looking at today is McKennie!

I was looking for a player to fill the bottom of the midfield diamond in the 41212(2) and boy does McKennie put in a shift. The first thing you notice about him is that he is HUGE in-game. Sure at 6'1, he's not the tallest, but that 'high and average' body style makes him wide & there really isn't a lot that gets past him. The only downside is that it makes him a little bit clunky on the ball- but you would expect that- he's not Verratti or Ben Yedder by any means and the trade-off is definitely worth it for the added defence that he provides.

Pace 7.5/10

His pace is... eh. Once he gets going it's pretty good- but getting going takes time. If you commit too much in the tackle, you run the risk of a Verratti, Mbappe, and Martinez going straight past you with their horrendously fantastic acceleration. However, if you make sure he's in good spots- the pace isn't really an issue.

Shooting 8/10

Not really had much to do with shooting & being in a shooting position as he does sit back from the edge of the box. However I like that, and I'm not really looking for him to be in the box putting away chances, more creating them- which he does well.

Passing 9.9/10

His passing is faultless- but it's damn near close, no problems with either short passing or long passing, and more than once he's bypassed an opponents midfield with his pass straight to the feet of my striker. The odd one goes astray- but that's certainly more my own ability than McKennie's.

Dribbling 8/10

Yeah, he's a bit clunky on the ball. 6'1, High & Average body style with low 80's agility & balance really does show. The best way to play McKennie is for him to collect the ball- look for the pass & get it out of his feet. Again if you play him right, you shouldn't have issues with being closed down, and McKennie can get out of sticky situations, but I wouldn't put him in them all the time and expect results.

Defending 9.5/10

He doesn't lose a tackle. In the game of EA Pinball he wins 9/10 times, even against some of the players that have the hidden 'sticky' trait (Mbappe, Neymar, Ronaldo I'm looking at you three as the major culprits here) he just takes the ball off them & off we go. Autoblocks are brilliant too. Just a word of repeated caution, don't go into the tackle until you're happy, if you miss (and it doesn't happen often) you can land yourself in a sticky situation (but most of the time you've got defenders behind him to recover).

Physicality 10/10

He's a human tank. I don't care who you are but with 6'1 & 95 strength, you're not getting the ball off him or physically bullying him. The only player I've seen so large on the pitch & with that presence is Gullit. Thats saying something. Stunning.

All in all, very worth the coins, especially since gold rares have dropped quite a lot in the past few days & you're now doing him for 140k. If you have a Piemonte Calcio player to link him to, then do him & pop him in your squad, I did & I haven't looked back.

CHONKY

Physically Massive

Human Tank

You're not getting the ball off him

Pinpoint Passing

A little Clunky on the ball

Have to be careful in the tackle because of his acceleration.

He's not your main striker.
