Varane is by far the best Gold CB in the game. I tried Van Djik, Gomez IF, Ramos but no one can provide you his combination of extremely fast speed, powerful tackling and out of this world auto-blocking.
I have Neymar and Mbappe in my squad but still, Varane is my MVP.

I have used this guy since week 3 or 4 after the games release, in that time I have racked up over 800 games on him (I know, I'm a rat) and played him alongside plenty of other centre backs, all of whom he has outperformed. For some reason this guy seems to be the most broken centre back in the game despite his poor dribbling and relatively poor passing. He is so good that I bought him for 240K and still haven't got rid of him, I like to change my team most weeks, so the fact that I have never took him out of the line up shows how good he is.
Everything defensively, he does things that other defenders, who should be better than him, just can't do.
His pace is amazing and his strength has not become a problem for me yet.
His passing can be quite annoying, especially if you try to pass whilst off balance with him.
The dribbling is bad when on the ball, however when jockeying or closing down an opposition player Varane's agility and balance feels way higher than what the card says.
The stamina can be a problem especially if a game goes to extra time, this can be said for lots of other centre backs as well though.
I packed this guy around the end of October and he is arguably the best player in my team joint with headliners Bamba. he bullies every attacker he plays. his pace is insane, he can sometimes even catch up to Mbappé! he is incredibly strong and his slide tackles are broken. I can't actually remember a time when I've thought that he has had a bad game.
- pace - he is incredibly fast with a shadow and competes with every attacker when it comes to his speed
- defending - his slide tackles are like no defender I've ever used this year and his interceptions mean hardly any players can play a through ball past him
- physical - he is so strong and wins every header that he competes for and as a result he gets so many goals from corners for me
- passing - his weak foot is awful when it comes to passing however, his strong foot is excellent
- agility and balance - he has a tendency to turn like a truck because of low agility but his pace means that he will always catch up to attackers
