TOTW Verratti

First Futbins review and what a controversial one to start with! TOTW Verratti.

I’ve been looking for a CM for my Ligue 1/Bundesliga hybrid and tried a mixture of players. I’ve always been drawn to Verratti due to his small size, dribbling and passing. Sadly, I missed the SBC and the reviews on the gold card were shocking.

I saw his TOTW and thought, why not. 40k coins, play a few matches and either keep or sell. Well after quite a few matches SC and Rivals (Tier 6 and climbing – this is my first year to Fifa) he’s really solid. Yes he has his downsides, most notable the pace. But the best players don’t keep mashing the pace button 100% of the time. Pace used in the correct way is good, but if not, you’re running around like a headless chicken and easy to dribble past.

With Verratti, his agility and dribbling mixed with his balance, make a great play maker. I have him sitting in front of CDM HL Kimmich, and just behind SBC Icardi, Ginola and Laborde. He links defence and attack perfectly. Kimmich breaks up the play and passes to Verratti. Verratti at that point is usually surrounded by players, but a quick flick of the left stick and a little burst of pace, he’s got time and space to pick out a killer ball to one of the front three. Yes, if I try and run with the ball he’ll get caught up by the other team, but that’s not how you play him. Receive the ball, create some space and find a killer pass.

On the odd occasion he’s on the edge of the box, he’s quick feet and small stature always find him space.

Apart from the pace, the only real downside is his stamina. Even being conservative on the pace, he lasts up until around 70mins, then I need to sub him.

Verratti, finally a card that credits this man.

Im just going to get straight to the point, i personally think this card is INSANE! He is so agile and he is really fast for his stats. Not fast for running down the wing, but explosive for getting out of areas in the midfield and his dribbling is on the level of Messi, Di Natale, SIF Vini. Italian Kante

This card came out and the first thing I thought was "Kante". The 5'5" plus the unique body type... this guy is built like Kante! For some magical reason, these defensive mids feel 20 overall more than their actual pace. Now, Veratti is not Kante's speed, but it was adequate, to say the least. He can catch up to most players.
