Player Review
96 - TOTY
Packed from a Premium premier league SBC.
I get this review upfront is not as positive as others, but from using his card across multiple positions now- I’ve finally got the measure of how to use this guy properly. His base gold card has always been a great defensive screen in front of a back four, a buzzing fly tapping the ball from under feet then feeding to the creative players. You HAVE to use him as a central CDM- as part of a double CDM pair he’s fought out of position too often. He’s challenging to use in an attacking role. The main upgrade on his gold is he feels so much smoother transitioning the ball into possession- slide tacking a runner, scooping possession then driving/dribbling into opposition third- laying off to creative players then tracking back. In a free flowing passing game, he is a great Iniesta style conductor- giving & going at speed, pulling opposition out of play. If your using a hit and fast counter strat- he often gets left out of the play
Everything with this card comes down to body type- his stats are incredible, but he doesn’t feel as imposing as the 6ft+ CDMs with extending limbs. In particular, his scoop turns are so slow when he has near Messi dribbling- and when pressed, the majority of his passes seem to bounce of opposition rather than quick sidesteps. I’ve even had it multiple times where he’s receiving a diagonal ball making a forward run it bounces off his back. The only comparison I can make is prime Maradona but without the skill moves. I’ve found Jorginho a far, far better all round TOTY card.
Passing & positioning
strong shot
great all round central playmaker- absolute team heartbeat, dictating Rhythm.
low centre of gravity- serious easy mode to time sliding tackles.
Body type- his small stature limits the passing angles when pressed
he doesn’t feel as rapid as his stats suggest.
dribbling can be awkward for a top tier card- sometimes trips over own feet.
