89 - Rulebreakers
Buddies,
Let's talk a bit about Alexander-Arnold RuleBreakers!
I was lucky enough to pack it into a gold upgrade because otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it. So I paired it with my defense composed of Amavi RTTK, Kimpenbe and Rüdiger RuleBreakers for 10 games of FUT Champions (13W-7L). We can notice that his statistics have been significantly increased compared to his regular card (+11 speed, +2 shooting, +4 dribble, +3 defense, +4 physical and +66 in total). In my opinion, only the cards of Walker and Hakimi regular (excluding icons) may potentially compete with Trent the Terrific concerning the post of RB.
His strengths are, first of all, his speed statistics which are often the most important for the left and right-back defenders. With a rating of 90 for acceleration and top speed, he's a real arrow in his wing channel. Then, he has the most impressive dribbling statistics at his post, which makes him terribly controllable and therefore facilitates defensive interventions as well as offensive projections. Although these statistics went down from -5, it remains among the sharpest and most precise RD in its passing abilities and especially associated with its 4 stars weak foot. Finally, the increase in defense and physics statistics is largely noticeable on the gameplay compared to the regular card (tested in Draft only). During the match, he seems to be the quiet force of the defense, with a defensive placement always correct and sharp interventions but always in the softness.
Regarding its weaknesses, I must admit that some are obvious. Firstly, its work rates are not optimal for a solid defense especially for this FIFA 22. Having a high WR in attack and a medium WR in defense that sometimes he leaves big spaces in his wing channel which will result in dangerous situations. It is therefore very important to tell him to stay in defense while attacking on the player's tactics instructions. In addition, its lacks of strength and aggression make him feel like a marshmallow sometimes during shoulder-to-shoulder duels which is a big issue for a right defender. Finally, his ability to win head-to-head duels is rather weak with a flagrant lack of jumping and this is also a real issue knowing that R1 + triangle are totally cheated. Thus, it seems to me appropriate to use a Sentinel style to correct these weaknesses as much as possible.
In conclusion, I think Alexander-Arnold RuleBreakers is the best DD in the game currently out of icons despite some glaring weaknesses that can be partially fixed. However, I remain undecided about the usefulness of spending 200k on this player and the sustainability of its value in the coming months. On one hand, it is very likely that some incredible cards will soon arrive at this post and thus will make this card completely obsolete. On other hand, the few alternatives to this position as well as his very useful nationality, club and championship coupled with the probable arrival of Salah's player of the month card for October in PL can make this card even interesting for some months.
