93 - Premium SBC
This card was very good from what I've seen so far. In his games he has played he has had 2 assists 1 goal and put in a lot of great tracking back his work rates are nice. He is fast he feels good on the ball, he can defend really well and is a very good LB in my opinion. I've used my fair share of LB too like TOTY joao cancelo and 92 robertson but I have to say this is my favourite.
- He feels great on the ball
- He has great work rates
- Defending
- Pace
- Dribbling
- Passing
- One bad thing about this card is that I would have liked more stamina but no big issue
- I would have liked maybe liked an upgrade of Weak foot and skills moves.
I've gone through a fair few LBs on this FIFA, mainly using Wildcards Delaine (450 games) and TOTS Davies (73 games). I have to say that Schmelzer is definitely the best of them all.
Although Davies is a better attacker- feels slightly smoother on the ball and obviously a tad quicker, Schmelzer defends like no other defender I've used on this game, and he is still offensively capable enough to use in counter attacks.
Pace
Very good. I've used him on Backbone and Anchor and while he definitely benefits from the pace boost Anchor gives him, though he's still quick enough without a boost.
Defending
Defending I genuinely think is second to none on this game. I use him alongside Moments Blanc and TOTS Koulibaly and while they're both brilliant, Schmelzer just seems to dispossess players so cleanly and anticipates play better than either of them. Faultless defending
Physical
Physicality is great. He's at a point where if you want to boost it more you can turn him in to an absolute unit, but he's not too physical by default so he's not clunky on the ball. Only downside is Stamina which is a bit low for a LB at this stage of the game.
Passing
Passing is good, definitely benefits from a boost though. On Backbone (Which I'd recommend using him on) it brings up his vision and long passing no end so he can comfortably spray balls all over the pitch without losing the ball.
Dribbling
Dribbling is a lot better than I expected actually. The height and body type combo I thought would kill the smoothness but he's actually very smooth and responsive on the ball. Impressive.
Shooting
Not so relevant for a LB but he's scored a classy longshot. Wouldn't bank on him pulling it off again, though.
Overall
Overall if you're a fan of Schmelzer or want a new Bundesliga LB, this guy is 100% Worth doing.
TOTS Davies is probably the most relevant player to compare him to, and as such I'd say Davies is better offensively- he works harder to get in to good offensive positions and is better on the ball, however in my experience, Davies was weak defensively and the Low Defensive Workrate was killer for me; he left me very exposed at the back often.
By contrast, Schmelzer is as good a defender as any Wingback or CB on the game, and is capable enough offensively to be a game-changer.
If you have the fodder, 100% complete this card
