I'm with you! It's a never-ending "catch-22". You put so much time and effort into grinding for the good team so you can field the best club you can, but we never truly become satisfied with what we have due to really bad gameplay and game modes that feel unrewarding for the work put in. It keeps us wanting "more", that we never can achieve. It's how this company continues to make money on people buying packs to make the game "fun". I've had to take a step back and start playing with players that are less meta, and believe it or not, my weekend league results are still very similar.
