They are both great options! Personally, I like playing them together with Werner a little wider and Smolarek central. Smolarek's finishing is much better than Timo's, but Timo's attacking AI runs open up space well. They complement each other.

NO CAPS LOCK. IF YOU WRITE IN CAPS LOCK IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE RAISING YOUR VOICE. We can hear you just fine without caps lock, so please take it off when writing your comments.
