i use him as the middle cm in 4321 and when the enemy is atacking he goes at the wing and when im attacking he stays middle. why is he doing that? he is on cover center

tried this it's leaving my entire mid empty.. he's still out of position and my lcm who used to cover for him goes ahead so it leaves a huge gap
