sold my packed one last week and thought I might regret the decision but it looks like this card is too heavily invested. I've never played anyone using him tbf but I thought he was good in the games I used him with, just didn't fit the team.

You don't understand how high rated fodder works. Nobody is investing in this card because they think he's going to be usable in the future, they're investing because after upgrades he is guaranteed to, at some point, be at least 21-24k. People aren't going to get their money for a little while, but they are guaranteed money at some point
