FC 24 90 Golazo Rafael Marquez Player Review - Cop or Flop

Back to Back fun SBC's, EA is that really you? Today we were given a mini release that featured some nice items too but the SBC item is Marquez and a very good looking one at that... it comes with 2 new Playstyle+, a weak foot boost and notable upgrades in the pace (+9) Dribbling (+9) and Shooting (+23) departments.

BUT WAIT!...there's more, this new card also fits the Heroic Chronicles SBC, so you can improve the item further and end up with him having 86 Pace, 86 Passing and a huge 95 Physical.

He arrives as a CDM but I couldn't help but feel he'd fit the CB role more, So I decided to start him as a CB but I did trial him in midfield too. We'll discuss why he fits one position much more than the other later on.

Marquez went into the team alongside the new Sol Campbell who I have to say also impressed me, he's so much more mobile than his previous items!

Chemstyle wise, due to me using him as a CB, Shadow is the obvious choice. However if you are going to use him as a CDM i'd actually recommend the engine.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Tackling, top class, really liked how strong he was in the tackle and just in general his ability to dispossess an attacker with either pure strength or a simple tackle.

+ Strength, as just mentioned he felt strong in game, capable of knocking most players off the ball with relative ease.

+ Positioning, I never found him out of position, he just seemed to be there ready and waiting to make a defensive contribution.

+ Playstyles. Anticipate+ is awesome, he's also got Jockey, Block, Slide Tackle and Aerial all contribute really well when defending, he's also got Longball Pass, Tiki Taka and that Dead Ball+.

/ Passing, this is the area that makes me prefer him more as a CB than a CDM, his long ball plays are fantastic and suited to a CB, but his average vision limits his other areas of passing.

One of the easiest ones in a while, absolute cop! and I say that even without the potential evo upgrade. I thought this item was fantastic in game and the fact you can make him even better is great. If you're looking for a new CB I'd definitely recommend this one.

Again like I mentioned in my last review if you're in need of some fodder for these SBC's there's a lot of packs in objectives.

Verdict - Cop!
