FC 24 Ligue 1 Team of The Season Prediction

While this is another division with one team (PSG) winning the title comfortably, the league's TOTS is slightly more balanced. This prediction includes several top names to get excited about with the likes of Dembele, Aubameyang, Hakimi, a ridiculous-looking Singo, a 40-year-old Dante and potentially a final PSG card for Mbappe.

Gianluigi Donnarumma - GK - 86 > 96 OVR

When it comes to goalkeepers it’s quite often a debate between those who make a lot of saves and those with the strong defensive records. This is probably the easiest decision throughout every leagues keeper position, however. Donarumma has regained the form we saw of the Italian at the Euro’s putting in several world-class displays for PSG. The fact the Italian has received three IF’s speaks wonders for just how good he has been this season.

Achraf Hakimi - RB - 84 > 92 OVR

While EA have opted against giving Hakimi special cards so far this year you can’t really justify leaving him out of this one. The Moroccan has been the best RB in the division by quite some distance. Eight offensive contributions go alongside being a part of the second-best defence in the league. Hakimi is a must if EA wants to make this side somewhat realistic.

Jean-Clair Todibo - CB - 79 > 93 OVR

As a neutral Nice matches are not what you want to be watching. While they have conceded the least goals in the division, only one side has scored less meaning Nice matches have the least goal involvements by quite some distance. The defence is where they excel though and Todibo is a serious talent excelling within the back line. It's very unlikely that Todibo will still be at Nice next season with several big clubs declaring interest in the Frenchman already.

Wilfried Singo - CB - 76 > 93 OVR

If EA opts to go based on the FantasyFut card for the next upgrade this Singo card could be the best CB we have seen in the history of UT. Monaco have been great defensively with youngster, Singo impressing throughout. The Ivorian has operated at both CB and RB but with more matches coming centrally, there is a strong chance that Singo will be able to play down the middle.

Bradley Locko - LB - 72 > 90 OVR

At just 21 years of age, Locko has burst onto the scene in Ligue 1, producing consistently strong performances for Brest. Without attacking contributions it can sometimes be hard to get noticed from LB but the likes of Chelsea and West Ham have declared interest in Locko showing just how good he has been for Brest this campaign. I hope he doesn't get overlooked by EA as this is a fully deserved inclusion for him.

Ousmane Dembele - RW - 86 > 95 OVR

While once again many will likely disagree with this inclusion Dembele has been impressive while on the pitch. While the quality within the PSG squad has resulted in multiple substitute appearances with Dembele featuring in 23 matches I feel he is able to be included. With a goal and eight assists alongside the very important stat of being second in L’equipe’s average ratings, I don't think this is as unlikely as you may think.

Pierre Lees-Melou - CM - 76 > 95 OVR

Brest have shocked the division this season and while they have not competed with PSG they still sit second in the division and with just five games remaining look heavily poised to gain Champions League football next season. Lees-Melou has been nothing short of phenomenal in the middle of the park. The Frenchman has received a POTM award with these performances coming from seemingly nowhere having spent the past seven seasons in Ligue 1 without really making a name for himself.

Vitinha - CM - 80 > 94 OVR

Many were sceptical about the departure of the ever-reliable Verratti and what that meant for the PSG midfield but Vitinha has stepped up and made the position his own. At just 24 years of age, I would expect the Portuguese midfielder to occupy the role for many seasons to come. With seven goals and four assists Vitinha has produced in every aspect this season. An easy decision for this side.

Romain Del Castillo - RM - 73 > 93 OVR

Ligue 1 often brings some obscure TOTS options and with Brest right up there this season they will likely occur from them. Castillo is inevitably one after his consistent performance from the right-hand side has seen the Frenchman record both eight goals and eight assists. Both Castillo and Melou have been pivotal towards the Brest success.

Jonathan David - ST - 80 > 94 OVR

David has been snubbed on several occasions when it comes to TOTW but his position in this side is all but guaranteed. Lille are battling for a Champions League position this season while the Canadian has been their main source of goals with seventeen so far. Champions League football is probably the only way Lille will keep hold of their star man with several European clubs interested in his signature this summer.

Kylian Mbappe - ST - 91 > 97 OVR

While it is set to be Mbappe’s final year in Paris the Frenchman has showed no signs of slowing down. With PSG all but confirmed winners of the Ligue 1 title and entering the semi-finals of the Champions League it could be a fairytale goodbye for him. Mbappe is the league's leading goalscorer with 24 to his name, seven ahead of second place. Ligue 1 TOTY won’t be the same without him.

Substitutes

Marcin Bulka - GK - 73 > 91 OVR

While I have opted against two keepers in several of these predictions this is one that simply must obtain two. Bulka is another keeper who has been simply phenomenal in Ligue 1 this season. Nice have the best defensive record in Ligue 1 with just 22 goals conceded. This for a side in fifth is almost unheard of. On top of that Bulka has received a POTM award, something which is extremely rare for a goalkeeper, showing just how important he has been.

Dante - CB - 78 > 92 OVR

Thiago Silva gets a lot of love for the level of football he achieves towards the end of his career but Dante who is not 40 years of age continues to impress for Nice. Not only did he receive a TOTY honourable mention but his level since then has increased if anything. Nice have that sublime defensive record and Dante is the leader within that side. While I do think Todibo is the better of the two Dante’s achievements cannot be overstated here.

Alexandr Golovin - CAM - 79 > 92 OVR

Although there is a chance that Monaco end up finishing second it’s actually difficult to include many of their players as when it comes to position-to-position comparison many fall flat. Golovin could be argued against but Monaco must feature a few times and I feel he is one of the strongest options for them with six goals and six assists from a predominantly CAM role.

Taji Savanier - CM - 80 > 92 OVR

Savanier has been a consistent performer in Ligue 1 for six seasons now, five of which with Montpellier so it’s perhaps a tad sur[rising that no other club took the chance with the Frenchman. Now at 32 years of age, Savanier looks set to finish his career with Montpellier and with his performances showing no signs of slowing down there's at least a couple more years of the midfielder yet. With eight goals and six assists Savanier is almost guaranteed a spot to make it four TOTS items in the past six seasons.

Takumi Minamino - CAM - 74 > 89 OVR

Minamino struggled to make his mark at Liverpool but the Japanese international has found his feet again since joining Monaco. In terms of average L’equipe ratings which are always a good indicator for these sides, Minamino comes third. His eight goals and five assists have seen him become one of Monaco’s main threats.

Alexandre Lacazette - ST - 83 > 93 OVR

The first of two ex-Arsenal strikers who are performing significantly better over in France is Lazazette. The Frenchman has scored on 15 occasions for Lyon this season as their late form sets them up for a chance at European football next season. Lacazette has been pivotal for the French side with their next highest goalscorer being central defender, O’Brien with four.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - ST - 80 > 92 OVR

It’s not been the best of seasons for Marseille who currently sit down in ninth position. One player who has seen his form improve over previous campaigns however is Aubameyang. The pacey striker is the third-highest scorer in the division with 12 to his name. His creative side of the game has drastically improved with the current seven to his name also putting the Gabon international third.
