FC 24 Futties Fabinho Player Review - Cop or Flop

Well the Euro’s are now well and truly over which means, FUTTIES is right around the corner. In the new Season I'm sure you all have noticed a nice group of Futties cards are available and some of them look absolutely incredible. It’s a shame that it’s also likely we won’t be able to unlock them for a few weeks. 

But if you have been avoiding grass like I have, the first Futties card is available to you at Level 5 and it is none other than a Futties Premium Fabinho! Looking at this card on face value, he looks incredible. He looks like he would suit the CB position best with those stats so today we are going to see if this card is a Cop or a Flop.

Other than a FC Pro card, Fabinho has been pretty absent in this game. So i’m excited to get my hands on this card, as ever since he first joined Liverpool, this man was in my premier league squads for the first quarter of each game cycle up until of course this year when he joining the Saudi League. 

This is a +6 overall boost from the FC Pro special item, of course joined with 4 playstyle+s in Long Ball Pass, Jockey, Intercept and Bruiser. These combined look like a great setup for a DM. +12 to pace along with 6s & 7s to the rest of his stats as well.

Now I mentioned he looks to suit the CB role best, for the purpose of this I will play him in his default position of CDM and will admit that I will also attempt to get his 7 assists objective out the way in the mean time, so certainly hope his passing and dribbling live up to the stats.

For chemstyle I feel the only two options here are either to go with the Shadow or Engine. I went with the shadow as I wanted to just max out the pace and defending in order to create a fortress of a defence. But if you want to go with the Engine to boost up the passing and dribbling alongside pace, that is a suitable option too!

In order to unlock this Fabinho, you will need to earn yourself 5000xp to get to level 5 in the Season. This is possible from a mixture of completing Rivals, Champs and Squad Battles alongside having completed the Christian Romero objective and the Daily & Weekly objectives. Having done all of this should take you nicely over that 5k requirement. As I said, i’ve avoided grass this weekend. I’m not proud.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Passing on this card surprisingly was my favourite attribute. Especially those long passes. Whether it was a pinged ball on the ground or an over the top, he would put the attackers through all the way back from his box.

+ Strength of course was really impressive also. He was an absolute brick wall and no one was knocking him down.

+ Defending in general was great, his awareness which allowed him to constantly intercept the ball. Tackles as well were usually really successful.

/ Pace was okay for a defensive card, you won’t expect him to win the sprint but he did navigate the pitch at a decent pace.

- Dribbling on this card is not amazing, despite the high stats, he moved like a bus and was incredibly difficult to manouver. He’s much more suited for the CB role and playing those long passes.

Fabinho - Cop or Flop?

It’s been a while since doing an Objective Player Cop or Flop, so here is a reminder for those that may not have seen one before. Cop or Flop for an objective player is essentially whether or not this card should just go into an SBC.

With that out the way, should you use this card as fodder? Well as I mentioned earlier this card suits the CB position a lot better that anywhere in the midfield. It’s been a while since I have said something negative about a card but the dribbling on this card felt so sluggish that created a lot of errors for me. In CB that wouldn’t be an issue as his job is just to clear the ball, but I do feel like there are already so many just as good or better CB options that this item won’t feel like an improvement. So for me, this item is probably going into another Futties SBC at somepoint.
