Round 2 of the Futties mayhem and again we were spoiled for choice with the selections for this weekend. Normally forwards offer the standout options and the goal contributions provide a great metric for measuring quality across the review, but in this case it wasn’t just one position, but literally every position that grabbed the eye and made our choice in the form of Fridolina Rolfö.
As was just stated the plan was simple… Try Rolfö in each of the three thirds of the pitch and see how much of the 2 million coin value we could extract in each area. The three games as a left back would offer a good opportunity to see if Rolfö could replace my mainstead option in TOTS Theo Hernandez… The three games as the box to box midfielder were also of interest given the statistics and PlayStyles… while the three games as the left CF were more for curiosity than a real test if honest.
Of course we are squeezing out the last few matches of the 4-3-2-1 in EAFC24 but with this review we did something that rarely happens in a change of Chemistry Style for different positions. The three matches as a left back and midfielder saw the use of the ANCHOR style to hopefully get the most out of Rolfö, while the HAWK was applied to finish off the remaining three attacking matches. In the end we put the Jack, or I guess “Jill of All Trades” title to test this weekend as Rolfö patrolled the entire left hand side of the pitch all weekend long in the following squad:
Overall
Rating: 9/10
At one point this review was going literally exactly as I had expected… Rolfö proved an excellent defender but not a 1.4 million improvement on my TOTS Hernandez and if anything not really an improvement at all. But then the three matches at CM started and I was completely caught off guard by the masterclass Rolfö produced in those three matches… So much so that in my third match using her as a forward I was down 2-0 and switched her back into the midfield at halftime, which led to an epic comeback and immediate legendary status for the Swedish superstar in my squad.
Main Statistics – Dribbling
Dribbling Rating: 10/10
Pace Rating: 10/10
Skills: â â â â
PlayStyles: First Touch Plus, Technical, Quick Step, Trickster, Relentless
From the beginning of time I have felt that no card can be “perfect” in Dribbling without the 5 STAR SKILLS and the same with Shooting and 5 STAR WEAK FOOT. But I just feel I have to make one exception in this case considering how quick, responsive and smooth Rolfö felt throughout this review. The ability to break down defenses with left stick dribbling is growing increasingly harder with how insane the defenders are in the game… Yet Rolfö delivered on this throughout the review, especially coming out of the midfield and creating odd man opportunities in the process.
The QUICK STEP with this card is lightning despite not being accompanied by the EXPLOSIVE AcceleRATE and maybe even more impressive was the feel of the 98 SPRINT SPEED and how well Rolfö was able to keep the gap between herself and tracking defenders.
Value/Coins
Value/Coins: 5/5
This is a tricky one as I actually don’t see Rolfö as the best value playing as a left back and considering that is her main position maybe this is not the most accurate summary… However, playing as a CM I would say Rolfö all but covers the value and then you add in the fact that you have an excellent left back option as well and it certainly seems fantastic value. I would disregard the forward option as that proved to be a failed experiment in the end.
Good vs. Bad
Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5
Due to the nature of this review it is more difficult to just break these categories down into positives and negatives and so here is a quick rundown of what worked and what didn’t throughout the review by position.
Defender: Rolfö has pace to burn and with the JOCKEY Plus there were not many wingers giving me troubles down the left flank, and when they did I was able to track back with ease. The tackling is solid and the 99 STRENGTH actually felt bullish both in challenges and when dribbling as well. Of course the WHIPPED PASS Plus provides an excellent wide threat and resulted in a couple of goals and various chances that would have probably led to more assists had I included Sorloth this weekend. On the flipside when I was up against those aerial threats it was clear that Rolfö was always going to struggle and the lack of height or AERIAL PlayStyle left me vulnerable at the back post and affected the overall defending quality.
Midfielder: However, as a CM Rolfö didn’t have to deal with those direct aerial threats and all that was left was the positive side of her defending. The near 99 across the board defensive statistics when combined with the ANCHOR Chemistry Style and of course that raw Pace I mentioned made playing through my midfield a huge task. Offensively Rolfö was also able to shine and actually scored more goals as a CM then a forward as her runs from deep allowed more time and space to pick a finish, which was also less impacted by a lack of attacking PlayStyles.
Attacker: Really was a failed attempt. The FIRST TOUCH Plus was really the only bright spot but you benefit from that in the CM position as well. Outside of that Rolfö does not have any of the Shooting Playstyles and therefore missed chances I would expect an attacker with those statistics and 5 STAR WEAK FOOT to score. The finesse shots did not curl wide enough, the finishes were always right at goal and the power shots were closed down too quickly.
Closing Words
When you start looking at the 1.5 - 2.2 million coin midfielders there is a solid list of options and the two that standout the most to me are MYM Palmer and PTG Camavinga. Palmer of course doesn’t have near the defensive qualities as Rolfö but would obviously carry a heavier offensive threat. While Camavinga is closer in statistics and can also play left back, but lacking a little offensively on Rolfö. For me Rolfö was the perfect box to box CM and the 10 goal contributions essentially all came from those three (and a half) matches where she literally ran the center of the park against some great players with God squads… A surprising but incredibly fun review, which you don’t often get at the end of July.
Hoping you are well. Cheers for reading
