Another week with limited fixtures brings another PL-heavy side, and there are some bigger names to shout about as well. Bellingham, Haaland, and Gyokeres all make the prediction, with a SIF Kerkez also looking very strong.
Enith Salon Marcuello - GK - 77 > 83 OVR
Nine saves and clean sheet / Levante 0 - Valencia 1 / 9.8 Sofascore Rating
Valencia picked up their first win of the season on their thirteenth attempt. Marcuello was the star of the show, making a total of nine saves to ensure her clean sheet remained intact, allowing Valencia to claim maximum points.
Milos Kerkez - LB - 77 > 87 OVR
Assist and clean sheet / Bournemouth 1 - Everton 0 / 8 Sky Rating
Bournemouth are now unbeaten in their last eight, winning five and drawing three. The defensive side of their game has played a huge role in that, with just three conceded during their run. Kerkez has been an ever-present face and was named MOTM once again this week after providing the assist on the only goal of the game.
Lisandro Martinez - CB - 84 > 86 OVR
One goal / Liverpool 2 - Man United 2 / 7 Sky Rating
I had seen some crazy predictions for this match, but all involved Liverpool winning heavily. That didn’t turn out to be the case, though, with United managing a 2-2 draw at Anfield. As for IF candidates, while there is no clear-cut option, I do expect United to receive one. Martinez seems to be the best shout, having scored the first of United’s two.
Robin Propper - CB - 76 > 83 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Rangers 3 - Celtic 0 / 7.7 Sofascore Rating
Rangers v Celtic was probably the biggest game of the weekend. We saw Catomo claim an IF last week, and under similar circumstances here, I also expect Rangers to receive one. Propper scored one of their three from CB and helped secure a clean sheet during the impressive win.
Bryan Mbeumo - RW - 80 > 86 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Southampton 0 - Brentford 5 / 9 Sky Rating
What Mbeumo is doing for Brentford this season is not talked about nearly enough. The Cameroonian is now on thirteen goals and three assists from Brentford’s opening twenty matches. At just 25 years of age, his best years are still to come, yet he doesn’t receive the recognition you would expect of someone performing as consistently as he is.
Jude Bellingham - CM - 90 > 92 OVR
Goal and assist / Valencia 1 - Real Madrid 2 / 9.1 Sofascore Rating
With Vini seeing red in the 79th minute and Real Madrid trailing 1-0, it looked set to be an upset by Valencia. Bellingham was on a redemption arc from his early penalty miss, providing an assist in the 85th minute before scoring the winner in the 95th. With just one La Liga game counting towards this week’s side, Bellingham is the only real option.
Valentin Rongier - CM - 79 > 84 OVR
One goal / Marseille 5 - Le Havre 1 / 8 L’equipe Rating
The highest rating of the week in France went to Rongier after his performance in Marseille’s comfortable 5-1 home win over Le Havre. Ligue 1 should have several players included, but Rongier should be one that makes the side with ease.
Evann Guessand - RM - 74 > 86 OVR
Goal and assist / Nice 3 - Rennes 2 / 8 L’equipe Rating
With limited options this week, I would expect at least one of the featured players to be a silver. Guessand should be included in this side after his goal and assist saw L’Équipe award him an 8/10, putting him among the highest ratings of the week.
Ewa Pajor - ST - 87 > 89 OVR
Three goals, one assist / Real Sociedad 0 - Barcelona 6 / 10 Sofascore Rating
It was the return of the Primera División Femenina this week, which of course means another Barcelona IF. Another convincing performance saw them win 6-0 away from home. Pajor was involved in four of those goals, scoring three herself and providing an assist.
Erling Haaland - ST - 79 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Man City 4 - West Ham 1 / 8 Sky Rating
City made it back-to-back wins as they look to put that horrendous run of matches behind them. Savinho impressed again, but being unable to receive back-to-back IFs, we have to go elsewhere. That could easily be Haaland after he scored two of City’s four.
Viktor Gyokeres - ST - 84 > 88 OVR
Hat trick / Vitoria 4 - Sporting 4 / 9.3 Sofascore Rating
Sporting couldn't capitalise on their huge win over Benfica last week, requiring a last-minute equaliser to secure a point away at Vitória. Gyökeres did score three during the eight-goal thriller, though, meaning his SIF is likely on the way.
Substitutes
Lucas Perri - GK - 78 > 84 OVR
Six saves and clean sheet / Lyon 1 - Montpellier 0 / 7 L’equipe Rating
Montpellier's woes continue as Lyon became the latest side to claim three points against them. The only goal was an own goal, and Lyon’s keeper, Perri, went on to claim MOTM. It really sums up how Montpellier’s season is going.
Nadir Zortea - RB - 70 > 86 OVR
One goal / Monza 1 - Cagliari 2 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
Defenders can often be difficult to select after a full set of fixtures, let alone with what we saw this week. It does, however, open the door for the likes of Zortea, who would usually be snubbed. His goal helped Cagliari secure a big three points away from home.
Alexis Saelemaekers - RM - 78 > 83 OVR
One goal, one assist / Roma 2 - Lazio 0 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
The Derby della Capitale saw Roma come out as 2-0 winners over Lazio. Saelemaekers was directly involved in both goals, contributing a goal and an assist. His performance saw Gazzetta award him MOTM with a 7.5 match rating.
David Neres - RW - 80 > 84 OVR
One goal / Fiorentin 0 - Napoli 3 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
Much like the previous week, we are likely to see numerous players with a single goal or assist end up making the side, given the limited number of games to select from. Neres was named MOTM for his goal during Napoli’s 3-0 away win, earning the joint-highest Gazzetta rating of the week.
Ross Barkley - CM - 78 > 84 OVR
One goal / Aston Villa 2 - Leicester 1 / 8 Sky Rating
I would expect most PL games to receive an IF this week, so with Barkley claiming MOTM after his goal during a narrow 2-1 win, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sneak in. Leicester continue to plummet under Ruud. Sacking Cooper looks to have been a bad call.
Youssef En-Nesyri - ST - 83 > 87 OVR
Two goals / Fenerbahce 2 - Hatayspor 1 / 8.6 Sofascore Rating
This is a risk, as up to this point, EA have required a 4-week gap minimum between IFs, but as we go further into the game, I see no reason why a 3-week gap won’t suffice. En-Nesyri scored both Fenerbahce goals as they battled to a 2-1 win over Hatayspor.
Raul Jimenez - ST - 74 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Fulham 2 - Ipswich 2 / 8 Sky Rating
Fulham required two penalties to secure a point at home against Ipswich, a testament to how much the away side has improved since the start of the season. With Jimenez dispatching both from the spot and claiming MOTM, he becomes a strong candidate for the upcoming side despite starting as a silver item
Reserves
Ethan Laird - RB - 70 > 83 OVR
Two assists and clean sheet / Wigan 0 - Birmingham 3 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
Carlo Holse - CAM - 70 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Samsunspor 2 - Trabzonspor 1 / 8.8 Sofascore Rating
Jed Drew - RM - 62 > 83 OVR
Two goals / WSW 2 - Macarthur FC 3 / 9.1 Sofascore Rating
Nicolas Kuhn - RW - 73 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Celtic 3 - St Mirren 0 / 8.9 Sofascore Rating
Josh Maja - ST - 71 > 83 OVR
Two goals / WBA 3 - Preston 1 / 8.6 Sofascore Rating
