FC 25 96 Team of The Season Gyokeres Player Review

The LaLiga TOTS has dropped with a star-studded cast of options to improve your squads… And yet we still couldn’t resist the lure of goal-scoring-machine, Viktor Gyökeres.  Can’t really blame us for joining in on the wish of many top European clubs, we just had to see what the big Swede could offer us leading the line in this week's installment of the Weekend League.

Beyond his real life prowess, Gyökeres has many of the attributes you would want in creating pixelated goals as well and looked like a perfect fit for my squad this weekend.  The question always remains whether the body type, acceleRATE, statistics and attributes will all mesh into the perfect player on the pitch, but from the outside, Gyökeres was looking like the real deal.

Gyökeres slotted in nicely to my 4-2-1-3 formation and had the tall task of following both Osimhen and Isak from the previous two reviews. The HAWK Chemistry Style was applied to help out with the challenge and rounded out many of the Pace, Shooting and Physical categories.  With the previously mentioned collection of top tier cards, along with the Objective incentive, it was always going to be a grind this weekend, with the hopes that Gyökeres could offer that cutting edge to challenge my opponents.  With everything in place and the squad built, it was up to Gyökeres to lead the line this weekend in the following squad:

Rating: 9.5/10

It has been a while since I had the perfect storm during a Weekend League review.  The mixture of difficult, but not insane opponents; opponents who stick out the majority of the match; solid gameplay; and a card that simply doesn’t miss.  Gyökeres was absolutely on fire this weekend and my opponents defense was terrified, the goals simply did not stop from match to match.

Main Statistic - Shooting

Shooting Rating: 10/10

Weak Foot: ★★★★★

PlayStyles: Finesse Shot Plus, Low Driven Plus, Power Shot, Power Header, Aerial

I think the 22 goals in 5 matches just about sums up how potent Gyökeres was this weekend, but if the numbers aren’t convincing enough, here is how the majority of the weekend played out.  Gyökeres has an incredible knack of finding gaps in opponents backlines and hits those gaps with a ton of pace.  Any quality midfielder is going to play the pass and then you are through on goal and simply need to pick the right option to complete the goal scoring opportunity and Gyökeres does the rest.

Last review I commented on how potent the 5 STAR WEAK FOOT, FINESSE Plus, & LOW DRIVEN Plus are and nothing changed with that combination this weekend.  Of the three I feel like Gyökeres has a bit more whip on the FINESSE PLUS and not quite as many were tipped over/wide of the post.  The 5 STAR WEAK FOOT was exceptional this weekend and Gyökeres constantly came up clutch regardless of what side he was shooting on.

Not quite as many headed opportunities (in fact I can only remember two that were both saved), but I can imagine the AERIAL PlayStyle can be used to benefit attacks when called upon.  The rest of the Shooting statistics performed as you would expect from a near perfect 99 rating across the board and resulted in a ton of goals this weekend.

Value/Coins

Value/Coins: 5/5

Just about time to call it quits on the Value/Coins section for another year as the price tags are insane.  Packing Lewandowski, Valverde, even Griezmann has never felt so disheartening when you search up the price tag.  Gyökeres still remains in the high 700k at this point, but I imagine he drops even further, which is honestly insane once you use the card and see how he performs in this meta.

Good vs. Bad

Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5

Given the overall rating, there are some improvements over the past two reviews here…

+ The RAPID Plus was always going to be, well… a plus.  But if I hadn’t looked and you told me that this card had QUICK STEP (light or plus) I would 100% have believed it.  The way that Gyökeres takes off and then maintains Pace is insane and causes endless issues for opponents.

+ The left stick dribbling with Gyökeres was also a dream and while I will never give a non-5 STAR SKILL-er a perfect rating, this card is literally as good as it gets.  The PRESS PROVEN Plus, TECHNICAL, and FIRST TOUCH allowed for quick and responsive turns that could be immediately exploded out of and turned into another blistering run towards goal.

+ But it was the Passing that really set Gyökeres apart from a lot of the previous strikers that I have tried.  The 95 VISION & 93 SHORT PASSING are quality enough and certainly benefit from the time and space the Pace will create, but it really was the TIKI TAKA inclusion that helped immensely and allowed the more intricate plays in and around the box to succeed.

Closing Words

In the end Gyökeres eclipsed both Osimhen and Isak and is hands down the choice I would make if offered the three for my squad.  If I am honest I left quite a few goals on the pitch as well… With some poor keeper movement reads and generally bad shot selection, Gyökeres really could have put up some all-time numbers this weekend.  Definitely a card I would recommend and hope to see staring back at me in my Weekend League rewards… A must try.

Hoping you are well.  Cheers for reading.
