Over the past 12 months, millions of gamers around the world have been searching for consoles and video games online. This analysis looks at the most Googled gaming consoles, sports video games, and non-sports video games in 2025, based on average monthly searches in 100+ countries around the world. More than 150 search terms, including abbreviations and alternate names, were included to provide a comprehensive picture of global search activity.
MOST GOOGLED CONSOLES
When it comes to gaming consoles, search patterns reveal clear global leaders:
- Playstation 5 topped searches in 129 countries, recording 11,100,000 average monthly worldwide searches.
- Nintendo Switch was the most searched in 23 countries, with 9,140,000 monthly searches.
- Nintendo Switch 2 also registered top searches in 23 countries, with 9,140,000 monthly worldwide searches, reflecting interest in the next-generation handheld.
- Xbox Series X led searches in 9 countries

MOST GOOGLED SPORTS VIDEO GAMES
Sports games have consistently attracted online searches across countries. When looking at the top 3:
- EA Sports FC 25 was the most searched sports title in 86 countries, with 2,240,000 average monthly searches.
- eFootball 2025 led searches in 65 countries while eFootball 2024 appeared as the most searched title in 8 countries.
EA Sports FC 26 also registered 1,220,000 average monthly searches, showing interest in the newer edition of the game.

MOST GOOGLED VIDEO GAMES (GENERAL)
This section focuses on other non-sports video games and the countries where they were most searched.
- Minecraft led searches in 152 countries, making it the most consistently searched non-sports game worldwide.
- Grand Theft Auto V was the top search in 35 countries.
Other titles, including The Legend of Zelda, Baldur’s Gate, and Hogwarts Legacy, were included in the analysis, though they did not appear among the highest-ranking search results.

METHODOLOGY
- The data was gained through Google Keywords Planner, tracking average monthly searches over the 12 months ending in November 2025.
- Multiple search terms were included for each console and video game to account for abbreviations and alternative names (for example, “Playstation 4” and “PS4”).
- If a game’s name could have multiple meanings, “video game” was added to the search term.
- 56 search terms were analyzed for gaming consoles, 74 terms for general video games, and 36 terms for sports video games.
- For country-level maps, one common search term per console was used, even though multiple terms were included in the broader analysis to capture all variations.
