Festival of FUT: Captains promo has come to an end and despite a bit of a slow fall off, only being a week-long promo felt right for me and overall I was a fan of the previous week of content. Onto the next one, though and we see the return of the FC Pro Live cards. FC Pro Live returns, combining Ultimate Team and esports to celebrate all the action from the FC Pro Open tournament through new, dynamic Player Items linked to one of 24 qualified esports pros. FC Pro Live Player Items upgrade based on matchday results, running from November through to February.
A good bunch of cards have been released today and specifically within the SBC section, but one we are here to look at today is an SBC that EA have snuck into release and it’s a Star Performers Scott McTominay SBC! Of course, this card comes from Scotland’s fantastic performance against Denmark, where McSauce scored a cracking overhead kick.

This card hasn’t seen a boost in rating compared to his Ratings Reload card sadly, but has been given a very small boost to Pace, Shooting and Physicals. The card has been given the Acrobatic Playstyle+ and whilst I am a big advocate for cards being released with versions based on their real life performance, for me this one doesn’t translate well in-game.
Chemstyle for me simply has to be the Shadow here, boosts up his Pace whilst also showing some love to his defending. This card can play in CM & CAM but he just seems better built for that defensive/ box-to-box role.
Here are the following segments to unlock the Star Performers McTominay SBC:
Squad Rating: Min 87
# of players in squad: 11
Just one SBC to complete here. Of course, he does come as part of a group in itself alongside Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean. But for just this McTominay card it’s an 87-Rated squad with a value of 85k to complete. His ratings reload card is sitting at 60k with arguably better playstyles, so this one already feels like a tough sell.

How did he perform in-game?
+ Physically, he’s solid. He wins a lot of the battles for the ball and is incredibly aggressive when it comes to pressing for possession.
+ His passing certainly impressed more than we expected. This was hugely aided by the incisive pass playstyle, but he was capable of setting up some easy goals for the attack.
+ He’s got some great shooting stats and he does have the low-driven playstyle, so he is capable of scoring goals. He also has high shot power and finishing so has the ability to score from range.
/ Dribbling at times felt quite clunky, this due to his low Agility and Balance. But when in possession of the ball, he just felt slow to react which often could leave him fumbling the ball.
/ The pace also let him down from time to time. We’re not expecting a central midfielder to be rapid, but he was very often caught when building up the attack.
McSauce - Cop or Flop?
As electric as this man has been in real life, unfortunately, it just didn’t translate to the virtual field. This for me is a card designed to be fun and not one to use if you are looking to play him in a competitive scenario. As mentioned earlier, I love to see cards being released themed on their real-life performance but the Acrobatic playstyle is a waste on this card, you’re much better off using the ratings reload version.
This all paired with the 85k price tag leaves me feeling a little disappointed. This is probably one to stay clear of if you’re hoping this would be an improvement on your squad.
Verdict = FLOP
