FIFAe Nations Series 2022 Format, Prize Pool and Match Schedule

Copenhagen, the home of FIFA esports as of July 2022, 3 FIFA esport events are being held in the city this month. Starting from the FIFAe World Cup 2022 which has come to a conclusion, seeing Red Bull Leipzig star Umut lift the World Cup trophy for his nation Germany against Argentina star Nicolas99FC. A total of $500,000 prize pool was on show here, the largest out of the 3 events this month. Secondly Copenhagen will host the FIFAe Club Series 2022 from July 20th until July 23rd seeing 24 teams compete for the total prize pool of $300,000.

The long anticipated FIFAe Nations Series 2022 is quickly approaching as the suspense continues to build up after the past 2 tournaments in Copenhagen. What can be expected from the FIFAe Nations and how will this tournament layout work?

84 nations competed for a spot in the FIFAe Nations Series 2022. A rise of over 40% from last year, showcasing the competitiveness and rise of demand for a nation to even become a part of this top esports tournament. The FIFAe Nations is one of the largest events of the year as 3 players from each of the qualified 24 nations come together to compete for their country and potentially lift the FIFAe Nations Cup. The prize pool for this tournament is a whopping $400,000 that each nation will be competing for. Each player will have the opportunity to play alongside their national teammates as this competition will be in a 2v2 format with the 3rd player being available as a substitution – this competitive style in FIFA esports adds a new dynamic through teamwork, competitive edge, communication, and overall pride while playing for your country. The event is held over 3 days from the 27th of July until the 30th where we will see 4 groups (Group A, B, C and D) all compete for the top spot, each nation will play against each other twice meaning there will be 10 matches per nation within the group stages.

Group A:
Denmark, England, Scotland, Argentina, Brazil, Singapore

Group B:
Germany, Sweden, France, UAE, Peru, Japan

Group C:
Portugal, Spain, Israel, Canada, Kazakhstan, Korea Republic

Group D:
Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, India

The top 4 of every group will continue to the knockout rounds, meaning 2 nations from each group (8 nations) will be knocked out of the tournament. From here we will see a standard tournament layout continue from a ‘round of 16’ to ‘quarter finals’, ‘semi-finals’ and of course the ultimate ‘final’ where one nation will be lifting the FIFAe Nations trophy.

After a long, competitive season of FIFA 22 for the esport players, the FIFAe Nations is the ultimate way to end the year off on a high, from the $400,000 prize pool to the added competitive nature that comes with a 2v2 including 1 substitution- every FIFA esport player will want to leave their mark on this tournament and win silverware of their nation. Teamwork will be one of the most important factors that comes into play in this tournament, this could see many upsets coming from this competitive nature, every player must be aligned on a gameplan, tactics in attack and defense and managed in sync to ensure that their team wins the match. Some of these esport athletes will be competing in all 3 of the tournaments in Copenhagen which will mean there are only 3 full days for the esport players to train with their teammates – this could see these esport players potentially underperforming allowing opportunities for the esport players who are fresher and sharper in working together take advantage of this situation.

The FIFAe Nations will bring a lot of excitement, much like the fun in playing pro-clubs with your friends this tournament will take team management skills to the next level where we will see the best FIFA esport players in the world link-up together to create the best FIFA duo gameplay we have potentially ever seen. The possibilities within this event are endless as each of the two players in-game will try to play to each other’s strengths showcasing different roles in-game. An interesting side of things will be looking into the dynamic of this tournament, who will lead the team’s, how important is this factor in success? Who will take set-pieces for each nation and how will they gel and adapt as the tournament progresses?

All of these questions will be answered on the 27th to the 30th of July as the FIFAe Nations commences. FUTBIN are looking forward to following along this tournament and taking you each step of the way, let us know which nation or individual player you are looking forward to watching the most!
