TOTW 23 Predictions FIFA 23

TOTW 23 brings the best side we have seen for months with multiple big-name options and fan favourites being included in the side. Whether that's De Bruyne’s dominant display at Liverpool, Leao upsetting Napoli or Benzema’s and Jesus's returns from injury.

Emiliano Martinez - GK - 84 > 87 OVR

Seven saves and clean sheet  /  Chelsea 0 - Aston Villa 2  /  9 Sky Rating

Aston Villa made it four wins from their last five, moving them up to 9th in the table by doing so. This is by far their most impressive result from that run of form and it could have been a different story had it not been for Martinez. The Argentine made save after save to keep his clean sheet intact.

Jerome Roussillion - LWB - 76 > 86 OVR

Assist and clean sheet  /  Union Berlin 3 - Stuttgart 0  /  2 Kicker Rating

There were quite a lot of defensive options this week thus making Roussillon a fringe option but with Bundesliga offering very little I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sneak in. The Frenchman also offers a very strong featured option with not many lower-rated players standing out.

Facundo Medina - CB - 76 > 88 OVR

Clean sheet  /  Rennes 0 - Lens 1  /  8 L’equipe Rating

Although there are no attacking contributions to shout about with an 8 from L’equipe Medina becomes a strong option. A defender's main job is to defend and Medina did that perfectly this weekend. Recovering the ball on ten occasions to help Lens keep the clean sheet and in turn take all three points.

Kieran Trippier - RB - 84 > 88 OVR

Assist and clean sheet  /  Newcastle 2 - Man United 0  /  7 Sky Rating

Newcastle's form had started to dip recently but an impressive win over Man United this weekend made it three on the bounce and in turn takes them to third. Trippier put in yet another dominant display down the right-hand side, providing an assist to top it off.

Rafael Leao - LM - 84 > 88 OVR

Two goals  /  Napoli 0 - AC Milan 4  /  8 Gazzetta Rating

Although Napoli practically have the title wrapped up this is not a result they would have wanted. AC Milan made them look poor this weekend with a comfortable 4-0 win. Leao stood out, scoring two of the goals and receiving a strong Gazzetta match rating.

Kevin De Bruyne - CM - 91 > 94 OVR

Goal and assist  /  Man City 4 - Liverpool 1  /  8 Sky Rating

Grealish was named MOTM for this match but with a recent inclusion in the Fut Baller promotion I have decided to look elsewhere. City will almost certainly receive an IF after their convincing 4-1 win over Liverpool. KDB was also heavily involved, scoring once and assisting another.

Thomas Muller - CAM - 87 > 89 OVR

Two goals  /  Munich 4 - Dortmund 2  /  1.5 Kicker Rating

Muller’s recent FUT Birthday card does put this selection under scrutiny but with it being both a rivalry and a title clash I can’t see this game being ignored. Yes, they could go for either De Ligt or Sane but Muller was the real star here and with the card being lower than the FUT Birthday option I see no reason why it can’t happen.

Nathan Redmond - LM - 75 > 86 OVR

One goal, three assists  /  Fenerbache 2 - Besiktas 4  /  9.5 Sofascore Rating

Despite only coming on for the second half it was a match to remember for Redmond. In a big clash between two of the top sides in Turkey, he managed to provide four attacking returns as Besiktas take another step closer to European qualification.

Karim Benzema - ST - 91 > 92 OVR

Hat trick  /  Real Madrid 6 - Valladolid 0  /  10 Whoscored Rating

Real Madrid put in a dominant display on Sunday when hosting Valladolid, scoring six without reply. Benzema looked back at his best after struggling with injury throughout the current campaign, scoring three of those six. There are several other options for Madrid but it is hard to look elsewhere after a hat trick.

Gabriel Jesus - ST - 83 > 86 OVR

Two goals  /  Arsenal 4 - Leeds 1  /  9 Sky Rating

Jesus returned to action for Arsenal this weekend and the Brazilian started where he left off. Scoring two of Arsenal’s four goals as they took another step closer to claiming the title. The Brazilian comes back at a vital time for the Gunners.

Robert Lewandowski - ST - 91 > 92 OVR

Two goals, one assist  /  Elche 0 - Barcelona 4  /  8.8 Whoscored Rating

From one OTW to another. Lewandowski was already a heavy favourite for the golden boot this season but with the Polish striker scoring another two this weekend he is now almost nailed on. In only a few more weeks we could also be looking towards a confirmed title for Barcelona too.

Substitutes

Jonas Omlin - GK - 79 > 83 OVR

Five saves and clean sheet / Koln 0 – Gladbach 0 / 2 Kicker Rating

The goalkeepers seemed straightforward this week with two standing out among the top five leagues. Although it doesn’t always work out like that with EA the chances of hitting both keepers are high this week. Omlin is the second inclusion after his five saves ensured Gladbach came away with a point.

Stefan Posch - CB - 75 > 83 OVR

Goal and clean sheet  /  Bologna 3 - Udinese 0  /  7.5 Gazzetta Rating

Serie A defenders often get snubbed in terms of Gazzetta ratings. That wasn’t the case for Posch though and in turn, becomes very likely to receive an IF on Wednesday. The Austrian scored the opener early on and defended well throughout.

Nayef Aguerd - CB - 80 > 84 OVR

Goal and clean sheet  /  West Ham 1 - Southampton 0  /  8 Sky Rating

There was a plethora of options from the Premier League this weekend with players in almost every position making strong claims for a spot. In terms of defenders, Aguerd is an obvious shout having scored the only goal of the game as West Ham beat Southampton 1-0.

Franck Honorat - LM - 77 > 83 OVR

Two assists  /  Brest 3 - Toulouse 1  /  8 L’equipe Rating

With limited options from Ligue 1 this week those that received an 8 from them are very likely to get the nod with it being rare to see less than a couple from the division. Honorat is helped by the fact he is a gold option thus his two assists could be enough to see him pick up his first IF.

Georginio Wijnaldum - CDM - 80 > 84 OVR

Goal  /  Roma 3 - Sampdoria 0  /  7.5 Gazzetta Rating

Outside of Napoli’s dominant display in Serie A positions 2 to 6 are all to play for in a competitive European position battle. Roma recorded a convincing 3-0 win this weekend as they look to gain a Champions League spot. Wijnaldum was named MOTM as his goal from CDM went alongside a dominant defensive performance.

Giacomo Bonaventura - CM - 78 > 85 OVR

Goal  /  Inter 0 - Fiorentina 1  /  7 Gazzetta Rating

Inter continue their poor run of form with a 1-0 loss to Fiorentina, making it three consecutive losses for them. Bonaventura scored the only goal of the game in a result which makes it five on the spin for Fiorentina as they make a late surge towards European qualification.

Luuk De Jong - ST - 79 > 83 OVR

Two goals, one assist  /  AZ 2 - PSV 4  /  8.5 VI Rating

It’s difficult to see Feyenoord slipping up from their current position in the Eredivisie but all PSV can do is keep winning games for that outside chance. Luuk De Jong was pivotal during their latest win scoring twice and assisting another to receive an impressive 8.5 match rating from VI.

Reserves

Ben Warland (CB) - Two goals - WSW 2 - Adelaide 3

Morgan Guilavogui (LW) - Three goals, one assist - Valenciennes 4 - Paris 5

Alexis Flips (LM) - Two goals - Nantes 0 - Reims 3

Jason Ceka (RW) - Two goals, one assist - Magdeburg 3 - Hansa 0

Hugo Cuypers (ST) - Two goals - Seraing 0 - Gent 5
