All eyes will be on TOTS with TOTW now taking a backfoot on the promotional side of things. There are still a handful of players to get excited about from TOTW 25 though. Whether that's an OTW upgrade for Antony, a fourth IF for Griezmann or a featured upgrade on Doku.
Anthony Lopes - GK - 82 > 86 OVR
Four saves / Toulouse 1 - Lyon 2 / 8 L’equipe type
Although Lopes failed to keep a clean sheet he made several key saves to ensure Lyon took home all three points. L’equipe made the Portuguese stopper keeper of the week with a strong 8-match rating which makes him a strong candidate for this side.
Nacho Fernandez - LB - 82 > 86 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Cadiz 0 - Real Madrid 2 / 8.2 Whoscored Rating
There were minimal defensive options this week that stood out, instead, we have several fringe options. Nacho looks to be one of the stronger fringe players having scored one of Madrid’s two goals during a 2-0 win over Cadiz.
John Stones - CB - 83 > 86 OVR
Goal / Manchester City 3 - Leicester 1 / 9 Sky Rating
With Haaland scoring another two goals he matched the record for most goals in a 38-game season at 32. While he stands a chance of an IF I feel that EA will opt for a record breaker following his next goal. Instead, we look towards a different option in Stones who received a 9 from Sky for his goal.
Jonas Hector - LB - 78 > 83 OVR
Assist / Koln 1 - Mainz 1 / Kicker TOTW
When it came to the Bundesliga this week there were minimal options to select from with so many top-end performances from other divisions it was difficult to fill the Bundesliga quota. Hector is a punt after he made their TOTW for an assist from LB.
Jeremy Doku - RM - 75 > 87 OVR
Two goals / Rennes 3 - Reims 0 / 8 L’equipe Rating
With EA now consistently handing out three featured upgrades per week I would be surprised to see Doku not receive one. The pacey winger will be a welcome addition with his four-star skills and agile build. The Belgian youngster excelled down the right for Rennes on Saturday.
Kevin Kampl - CM - 87 > 88 OVR
Goal and assist / Leipzig 3 - Augsburg 2 / Kicker POTW
Most will predict the Werner IF this week and although that's not impossible, Kampl is the favourite for me. EA rarely snub the Kicker POTW and Kampl was awarded the accolade this week for his goal and assist during Leipzig’s five-goal thriller.
Inaki Williams - RM - 81 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Bilbao 2 - Sociedad 0 / 8.7 Whoscored Rating
Bilbao kept themselves in the race for European football with a 2-0 win over 4th placed Sociedad. Williams scored both their goals from out wide to secure the three points.
Antony - RM - 82 > 86 OVR
Goal and assist / Nottingham 0 - Manchester United 2 / 8 Sky Rating
Antony has picked up some form recently with the Brazilian being rather hit-and-miss throughout the season in general. A goal and assist on Sunday helped Manchester United to a 2-0 win, practically confirming their top-four finish.
Mauro Icardi - ST - 77 > 85 OVR
Hat trick / Galatasaray 6 - Kayserispor 0 / 9.5 Sofascore Rating
Galatasaray maintained their six-point lead at the top of the table with a convincing 6-0 win on Friday and with nine games to go they are the favourites to lift another title. Icardi scored three of the six, with all three coming in the first half.
Antoine Griezmann - ST - 83 > 89 OVR
Two goals / Atletico Madrid 2 - Almeria 1 / 9.1 Whoscored Rating
Griezmann is rather special heavy so far in FIFA 23 with six special cards to his name already. This would be his fourth IF but with a six-week gap from his most recent IF the Frenchman should be able to receive another. His brace this weekend allowed Atletico to pick up all three points via a narrow 2-1 win.
Ollie Watkins - ST - 78 > 87 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Aston Villa 3 - Newcastle 0 / 9 Sky Rating
What a resurgence Aston Villa has had under Unai Emery. A 3-0 win over Newcastle makes it five consecutive wins for the club as they push into European football positions. Watkins was involved in all three goals with two of his own alongside supplying the assist for Ramsey.
Substitutes
Michele Di Gregorio - GK - 74 > 86 OVR
Six saves and clean sheet / Inter 0 - Monza 1 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
Thankfully Di Gregorio has received a previous IF thus making my decision a lot easier to include him this week. Only two sides from the top seven in Serie A recorded wins this week with Monza’s shock win over Inter being one of those results. Di Gregorio made six saves in total to deny Inter and rightfully claimed MOTM for doing so.
Miranda - LB - 76 > 83 OVR
One goal / Betis 3 - Espanyol 1 / 8.5 Whoscored Rating
Betis returned to winning after losing their previous two matches with a 3-1 win at home to Espanyol. Miranda scored the second of the three goals and despite failing to keep a clean sheet should still make the side after being named MOTM.
Eberechi Eze - CM - 76 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Southampton 0 - Palace 2 / 9 Sky Rating
Crystal Palace look set to receive back-to-back IF’s with Olise making last week's side and now Eze set to make TOTW 25. The English midfielder scored both their goals as they recorded a 2-0 win against a hapless Southampton.
Guus Til - CM - 75 > 83 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Voledam 2 - PSV 3 / 8.5 VI Rating
Feyenoord has all but won the Eredivisie but the top few remain very competitive for second downwards. PSV continued their strong form with a 3-2 win over Voledam. Til was involved in all three of their goals with two of his own alongside an assist, claiming a huge 8.5 match rating from VI for doing so.
Joseph Paintsil - RM - 71 > 85 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Genk 5 - Anderlecht 2 / 9 Whoscored Rating
Genk took one step close to the Pro League title with an impressive 5-2 win over Anderlecht. Paintsil scored twice and assisted another, which considering he classes as a gold option due to a previous IF should be enough to find him in once again.
Dominic Solanke - ST - 87 > 88 OVR
One goal, two assists / Tottenham 2 - Bournemouth 3 / 9 Sky Rating
Two sides fighting for opposite reasons at different ends of the table often provide entertaining matches and this was no exception. Bournemouth came out on top of a five-goal thriller, taking them one step closer to confirmed safety. Solanke scored once and assisted twice to confirm his spot in this side.
Zinho Gano - ST - 71 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Eupen 1 - Waregem 5 / 9.5 Sofascore Rating
Another Pro League option now, which although two is rare could easily happen this week. Gano and Vormer are both strong shouts from Waregem this week but the hat tricks rarely get ignored thus I expect Gano to receive his SIF.
Reserves
Marvin Wanitzek (CM) - Two goals, two assists - Karlsruher 4 - Arminia 2
Alexander Bernhardsson (RM) - Hat trick - Elfsborg 5 - Brommapojkarna 0
Connor Chaplin (CAM) - Hat trick - Ipswich 6 - Charlton 0
Amahl Pellegrino (LW) - Hat trick - Bodo 4 - Stabaek 0
Jack Marriott (ST) - Hat trick - Accrington 2 - Fleetwood 5
