Player Review

Virgil Van Dijk, what a player he is. Looking at his card stats you surely expect a very good centre back, but I wasn't expecting one of the best in the game. I've not played with every CB in the game or in the BPL, but I am 90% sure that people will agree on this review. VVD has got his physicality and pace as his advantage against other CB and the Strikers you come up against. He's been my main CB next to Kompany for my BPL squad and he makes up for Kompanys, rare, but yet made mistakes. I'm that type of a player that relies on the AI controlling your defenders, and honestly it feels like the real VVD is playing in-game. If you're looking for a strong, pacy, good defensive CB, look no futher. He's not very cheap compared to other CB options you have, but once you get him you never sell him. I bought him when he was at 24k and I will never sell him.

PACE 73: Brilliant: He's very fast for being a big CB in my opinion. I usually don't care about pace when it comes to players playing either in CB or CDM, so getting VVD I only looked at his defensive stats and passing. But his pace makes up for his balance and agility which to be honest, doesn't feel to bad even though his stats show it.

SHOOTING 60: Shot power OP: You don't really need shooting stats to be high on a CB. But even though he's got 60 for shooting. He's scored me 4 goals, 3 being with his feets. Nothing to say here other than 81 shot power which to be honest could end up anywhere, but when it comes to being close to the goal, just press and hold B for 1-2 seconds and it will end up in the net.

PASSING 67: Phenonemal: Everytime I look for a new CB I first look at his defensive stats and then his passing. Passing is very important because when it comes to clearing the ball without having to shoot it all across the field, you'll need it. His short passing and even long passing is brilliant and it helps a lot when building up a counter attack or playing out on the wingbacks. 76 short and long passing makes him a very good option.

DRIBBLING 70: Composure/Ball control: Again, a stat that some people misses when buying a CB. Don't look for a CBs pace, it's not as important as in previous FIFAs. His dribbling stat is very good for a CB because of his high composure, reactions and ball control. His 82 composure makes him very reliable when playing risky sometimes which happens all the time. He is very calm and he rarely makes mistakes when under pressure. His ball control helps him to turn with the ball and get away from Strikers chasing him. And finally his reactions makes him a very good target in case you want to play back towards your CB.

DEFENDING 83: Tackles: His defensive stat is his most important stat in my opinion. Looking at his in-game stats he is a very well balanced card in terms of defending, but his most stand out stat? Standing tackle. Whenever someone tries to either dribble past him or take a shot infront of him he reacts very quickly and his precision is very good. He rarely fouls people and when he does he usually do it outside the penalty area.

Physicality 85: Strength: Obviously you've heard that VVD is one of the toughest and strongest CB in BPL, well I gotta say it's true. His strength is unmatchable when it comes to combining his strength and his standing tackles. I came up against Lukaku one game and he stomped him without fouling him and just continued on like nothing happened. That's a sign of a STRONG CB.
