Player Review
81 - IF
I picked up Zeegelaar after predicting him for TOTW 11 and not being convinced by either IF Kolasinac (too defensive) or IF Young (right footed and weak). He initially looked like the prototypical left back for my play style with great attacking stats, strength, and decent pace. After about 100 games with him his in game stats allow him to excel in some areas but disappoint in others.
PACE: His pace is good enough for a left back with the high sprint speed, and rarely saw himself outpaced massively.
SHOOTING: Although most would consider shooting stats irrelevant with a left back I use mine to provide extra attacking options in the 41212 narrow, and Zeegelaar exceeded my expectations with his 83 attack positioning putting him in great areas to use his combination of 85 shot power and 69 finishing to put his chances away.
PASSING: Excluding his great crossing, passing was one of the areas this card disappointed me with, specifically short passing at 76. He would regularly roll simple passes to opposing players ruining opportunities and sending momentum in the opposite direction.
DRIBBLING: Dribbling was overall tidy except for his 58 balance, where even cards like Benjamin Mendy simply leave him in the dust. The balance combined with his height made him feel more shaky than solid on the ball.
DEFENDING: Zeegelaar's defending was decent enough and at times felt more around an 80 rather than 78 with his good tackling abilities. PHYSICAL: The physical on this card was both good and bad at times with the 87 strength being the highlight with him. He was more than capable of slamming into strikers and sending most wingers flying. However, the 69 jumping often saw him more akin to a fire hydrant in the air, memorably with Ben Yedder vaulting over him to seal a late win off of a corner. The 87 stamina felt very underwhelming with him often coming off around the 75' for my red Fabra (my favorite lb) for more defensive and offensive security. This may come down to the work ethic I force upon my full backs.
OVERALL: Zeegelaar finds himself able to prove his worth in some areas, namely strength, but unable to in others. He's an inoffensive option for your PL FUT team if you have spare coins but are still far from SIF Young or IF Kolasinac. If you don't have the 30-35k to spend, Benjamin Mendy should more than suffice.
- Good enough pace
- Not the worst shooting left back
- Decent tackler
- Crossing
- STRENGTH
- Short passing, can give up easy passes
- Balance makes him feel clunky on the ball
- Doesn't make the most of his height with low jumping
- Doesn't feel like 87 stamina
- No in game face :(
