The Cheap Icon(Compare him to Prime Hagi)
By AEdwards1, 21-12-2017

Raffael is 86 rated on his card, but an 88 CAM in game and he plays better than many other cam icons. I actually only use him on 7 chem and he is still quality. I would recommend this card 100% to anyone unless they have a team worth 5 Million+ coins. For 45k he is one of the biggest bargains on this game, if you compare his stats to prime Hagi he actually isn't too far off and he is over 800k less coins. Make sure to play him centrally as he doesn't have to pace to play as a wide cam. Definitely try him out as if you somehow don't like him you can just sell him without losing many coins from ea tax as he is so cheap.

Finishing - 10/10. When he gets a chance in the box, he is capable on finishing it every time as long as there is no user error. He is often in good positions and makes good runs(90 attack position). His finesse shot and low driven shot in particular are very effective and he scores 9/10 shots on his weak foot with his 89 finishing. His composure is 82 but for me it felt like 90.

Long Shot - 10/10. This is the thing that surprised me the most about this card. He has 84 shot power and 85 long shots but they both felt 90+. Almost every shot I took from range either went in or forced the keeper to make an incredible save. He outperforms my 92 Del Piero in this aspect.

Passing - 9/10. I had no issues with his passing as he has brilliant vision(89) and short passing(90) for a cam, fantastic curve(86) and good enough long passing(82) for him to barely ever misplace passes. His crossing and free kicks are usable but not top quality.

Dribbling - 9/10. His dribbling itself feels perfect as he is very agile(87) with good balance(86) and has high ball control(91) and dribbling(91). The only issue is his 72 sprint speed but you can try and combat this with a chem style.

Pace - 7/10. To combat this I use a Catalyst chem style. As long as you play him as a central cam you should be fine with his pace as he won't need to sprint away from opposition players as you can pass it off to a teammate. If you play him as a wide cam he won't be involved in many of your attacking plays and he won't be that great defensively either.

Physical (Strength 6/10) - The only issue with Raffael's Physical is his strength stat. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about this but this is an issue with many other alternative players to this card. His stamina is decent but if you run to much with him he may run out of steam around the 80th minute. His jumping and aggression are decent but he is short so he is unlikely to score headers.

Defending - 4/10. To be fair to him his defending could be worse. He has 71 Aggression, 60 interceptions and 48 stand tackle. Despite this I think you should play him further forward than a CM as he is wasted further back.

God Walking Among Us.

I built a hybrid team where I wanted Neymar and Messi out wide. I run a 3-4-1-2. I had Higuin as an untradeable as well. So I thought Brazil-Argentina hybrid. One probelm I couldn't think of a good striker for the Brazil side. After a quick FUTBIN search I decided on this Raffael. Not to mention the one I bought in the market has Hunter on him. With Hunter and at Striker, This card is probably THE MOST overlooked card in FUT.. I've never had a better Finishing striker and i've used pretty much all but the very top guys. Raffael makes runs like no other. Higuin finds him so well too, It's amazing, from SB's to DKT so far people focus on Messi and Neymar and Raffael burn them every time. My debut match in a DKT with him Raffael scored 5 goals. They were from all over including from distance.

  • Best Finisher at ST, I've used
  • Makes Brilliant runs
  • Very good passer
  • 4 star Skills and WF
  • Can bang it in from distance as well
  • Without the Hunter chem, his pace is lacking. Even playing him on 7 chem, it helps a ton.
  • Isn't the most physical or at least doesn't play physical unless you control him.

Doesnt even need a review!!

He is An Absolute God at Cam and a bargain for 45k and plays like an Icon, Give him an Engine or Maestro Style and hes a gun. Always where you need him can shoot from outside the box or cross those deadly balls in, This card helped me to my first fut champs and Im a Complete average Joe player. Please Check him out i play him on 7 chem in a prem hybrid and even then hes still a gun!

A very good CAM for a very good Price
By cyrusc3, 12-02-2018

This is a very good card for the small price tag (bought him for around 30k). Not only is he able to finish well in the box but he is an incredible long shot taker making most shots from outside the box. He is a relatively small card with no strength what-so-ever but is able to pull off insane long shots that make him very worth it. His pace is okay as he has decent acceleration, but definitely requires a chemistry style that boosts pace stats. Passing on this card is very good and he is able to work the ball around the pitch very effectively especially when linking two strikers.

Striker Raffael is deadly
By timncfc, 30-12-2017

Having packed the 84 version in an untradeable Team of the Week pack, I thought it would be churlish to at least not give him a shot in my Bundesliga side and boy was I rewarded. I've now upgraded to this version of the card, and it's certainly worth the coins. Raffael is very usable in a dual striker formation, with powerful finishing and neat dribbling. The Brazilian can shoot with either foot, and can certainly cause problems if given space outside the box. Raffael's attacking positioning is fantastic and he is so often there to finish off moves while also having good enough composure to win games that perhaps otherwise would be tight. Raffael's pace, whilst not quite electric, is certainly usable and defenders do have problems keeping tabs on him especially with 97 acceleration. Even if he doesn't get in behind, the danger isn't over for the opposition as he can bang them from outside the box as well as inside. If you play with a dual striker formation, with an even faster partner alongside him, he will often provide the assists with a fantastic passing range and vision.

Defensively, he'll work hard enough thanks to his high/medium work-rates but I would not expect him to win too much back by himself in a game unlike, say, Jamie Vardy. His strength isn't fantastic, although I personally rarely find this a real issue with the style that I attempt to play. I wouldn't expect him to win many headers either; at 5'8", he is made to feel rather small by most defenders in the game and if the opponent presses hard, especially from goal-kicks, this often means that the ball comes right back at you after clearing long. As for his stamina, I never noticed him flagging particularly and he often comes up with big, game-winning goals. In my opinion, outside of Lewandowski, there isn't anyone like Raffael in the Bundesliga. Of players that I've used this year, I would say that he is similar to SIF Mauro Icardi in a lot of respects, but more nimble and definitely less likely to pop up with headed goals.

To summarise, Raffael is an outrageously cheap card who will finish 85% of his chances. He is slightly lightweight physically but he is always in the right place for chances.

  • Fantastic finishing, even on the weaker foot
  • Can shoot from pretty much anywhere inside 25 yards and you can expect it to be on target at the very least
  • Dribbling and first touch are usually exemplary, can beat defenders without using skill moves.
  • Works hard defensively for a forward.
  • Sets up quite a large number of goals as well as scoring himself - more than capable of picking some very nice passes.
  • Good stamina and often scores crucial goals in tight games.
  • Attacking positioning, whether in the box or on the run in behind, is a joy.
  • Does need a pace upgrade through his Chem Style - even with a hunter his actual sprint speed isn't incredible but is certainly usable.
  • I feel he needs a second striker alongside him to dovetail with as a striker (although I am personally yet to try him in a one-striker role)
  • Not especially tall at 5'8" and doesn't win many headers, if any.
  • Physically dominated by some of the most commonly seen defenders.
